We recently connected with Ashley Littlefield and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
Generosity is given to us through the acknowledgment of gratitude. Every day, we are given a generous perspective with each wake of the sun. Each new day allows generosity to be shared with others, even with a warm smile. The people I have in my life and the way they have shared kindness with me reflect the generosity in my heart, which is my purpose of sharing everything I put my heart into with others.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hello! I am Ashley Littlefield, and I am so grateful to share my story with other creatives and offer insight into the different paths that can influence their lives.
I was born and raised in Orange County and grew up with music and art as a driving force in how I have shaped my learned experiences. In High School and College, I ran Cross Country and Track to teach myself to carry discipline into work and collaboration through teamwork, which results in the time it takes to achieve what you set your mind to accomplish.
Afterward, I graduated from California State University of Fullerton with two Bachelor of Fine Art Degrees in Creative Photography and Experimental Media and Illustration. As I found my groundwork in my full-time roles, I have learned to print Braille with a foundational background in print as a Production Artist, as a Junior Graphic Designer supporting Creatives and Journalists in Press through illustration and photography while additionally supporting layout design for local Newspapers and Magazines in Orange County.
I am immensely grateful for the mentors who believe in me supporting them in their journey to success. As I developed my business goals last year, I registered for my own LLC to support the creative goals of clients I look to help with designs, photography, and innovative solutions. I have also supported music retailers and a Music Tech Startup in Los Angeles while I create my music to share with listeners. What is most exciting about the journey is leaping with courage and putting your best work forward with what you have or how you can work with others to drive success to others.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities I have learned as they have influenced my journey are perseverance, optimism, and kindness. To see failure as feedback, we can always learn from our mistakes to be more successful in the future. Optimism is for a positive outlook for when days get tough and kindness to collaborate with those involved or share empathy to meet shared goals and expectations. The advice I would like to share with others early in their journey is to never give up on learning more skills and to be kind to those who may have differences compared to yours. Also, it would help if you dive in deep by taking extra time to immerse yourself in your work and how you can best support others. However, it is important not to spread yourself too thin and set boundaries for the threshold of work you share.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now has played an essential part in my development in my full-time work. Presence is an integral part of the outcome, and by showing up for yourself, success will be an outcome that will serve you. Procrastination can also be a creative process to new material. However, the action of doing it in the presence is where the power is amplified in your work.
