We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ashley Mosaic Dickinson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley Mosaic, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I learned at a young age that developing my confidence and self-esteem was going to be an inside job. However, this awareness alone did not make the process any easier. I went through several lows in my life, and as a child, I often felt deeply misunderstood, figuratively, and literally as I even had a stutter. Despite these challenges, I always felt connected to something much larger than just the physical world; something beyond what meets the eye. This awareness resulted in me being a ‘seeker’ from a very young age. Fueled by a constant “why,” I sought to learn and connect the dots.
Throughout my journey, I always had incredible intuition and foresight. However, without the confidence to back it up, this often led to several hero’s journeys as I would trust others’ input over my own. If people didn’t see what I saw or understand my perspective, I would assume they were right and I was wrong. This struggle pushed me to explore and study various systems such as astrology, human design, and gene keys. Through these studies, I uncovered that while we all have unique skills, mine include intuition and foresight.
Once I not only uncovered my innate skills but also further developed them, I realized that the things that made me “weird” or different were actually my superpowers. Not everyone is designed to see what I see, and now I know that sharing my gift benefits the world as it deeply empowers my clients. This understanding has been the cornerstone of building my confidence and self-esteem, transforming my perceived weaknesses into strengths and allowing me to step into my true potential.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a deep level of awareness, been fueled by the elusive “why,” and motivated to ‘connect the dots.’ No part of my life or path, career included, has been linear – however, I am now in a place where I see the ‘dots’ have always been connecting.
I went to school at Loyola University Chicago, studying Communication and Business. After earning my degree, I spent years traveling with Cadillac as a vehicle narrator. Then I worked for a number of startups in Chicago and San Francisco, where I started KindaKIND®, a brand and community focused on spreading kindness and positivity on a mission to prove Kindness Is Badass®. While in San Francisco, I helped my then-boyfriend with his mayoral campaign. After our breakup, I moved back to Chicago and was cast for a reality TV show where I spent several months in Los Angeles. Upon returning to Chicago, I became deeply immersed in Bitcoin and decentralization, pitching several shows on the topic but repeatedly being dismissed.
These seemingly unrelated experiences led me through a series of hero’s journeys, also called ‘dark nights of the soul,’ which made me believe I was inherently broken. I delved into studying esotericism, astrology, human design, gene keys, neuroscience, and the subconscious mind. Through this process, I realized I didn’t need to ‘fix’ myself – I needed to simply become myself.
Now, I help my clients do the same. As a professional futurist, I assist executives, visionaries, entrepreneurs, and innovative businesses in aligning their strengths, mindset, and mission with the future. My approach fuses human design, mindset training, and strategic foresight to amplify individual strengths and improve team dynamics.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, there’s been many, but when I zoom way, way out, I see they’re primarily categorized impactful in my journey were intuition, resilience, and the ability to connect seemingly unrelated dots.
1. Intuition & Self-Trust:
Intuition has always been my guiding light, even when I didn’t fully trust it. It’s this inner knowing that led me to explore various systems like astrology, human design, and gene keys. By understanding and honing my intuitive abilities, I learned to trust myself more and make decisions that aligned with my true purpose.
My advice for those early in their journey is to prioritize spending time in self-reflection and meditation to strengthen your connection with your inner voice. Trust that your intuition is a valuable guide, and don’t be afraid to follow it, even if it leads you down unconventional paths. Exploring practices like mindfulness, journaling, and intuitive arts can help you develop this skill.
2. Resilience:
Resilience has been crucial in navigating the ups and downs of my non-linear career and personal life. From dealing with setbacks and rejections to embarking on multiple ‘hero’s journeys,’ resilience allowed me to keep moving forward and ultimately find my path.
My advice is to cultivate resilience by embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. Understand that setbacks are a natural part of the journey and use them to build your strength and character. Practices like positive self-talk, setting realistic goals, and seeking support from mentors or a community can help you develop resilience.
3. Connecting the Dots:
The ability to connect seemingly unrelated dots has been invaluable in creating a cohesive narrative from my diverse experiences. Whether it was working with startups, founding KindaKIND®, or exploring decentralized technologies, I found that each experience contributed to my unique perspective and expertise.
My advice is to develop this skill by staying curious and open-minded. Engage in lifelong learning and be willing to explore various fields and interests. Keep track of your experiences and reflect on how they intersect and inform each other. This holistic approach will enable you to see patterns and connections that others might miss, enriching both your personal and professional life.
In my experience, by focusing on these qualities and skills, you’ll be better equipped to navigate your journey and align with your true potential. Remember, the path may not always be clear or linear, but trust that each step you take is part of a greater tapestry being woven.
How would you describe your ideal client?
As my focus is in the intersection of human potential, societal shifts, and innovation, my ideal client is mission-driven and visionary in nature.
They are individuals who not only have a strong sense of purpose but also a deep desire to create a positive impact in the world. These clients are often executives, entrepreneurs, or innovators who are not afraid to think outside the box and are committed to aligning their strengths, mindset, and mission with the future.
They are open-minded and curious, willing to explore unconventional approaches to personal and professional growth. This includes a willingness to delve into the ‘quantum’ angle of my practice, as I am a very integrative thinker who fuses multiple modalities. These modalities include Human Design, Gene Keys, astrology, hypnotherapy, and strategic foresight, which together help clients uncover their unique strengths and align them with their vision for the future.
My ideal client values intuition and foresight, and is eager to harness these qualities to navigate their journey. They understand the importance of self-awareness and are committed to personal development. They seek guidance in connecting the dots between their experiences, talents, and aspirations to create a cohesive and impactful path forward.
In essence, my ideal client is someone who is ready to step into their true potential, actively create the good future they envision, and leverage a holistic approach to achieve their goals. They are visionary leaders who recognize that the journey to becoming their best selves involves integrating diverse knowledge and embracing their unique gifts to make a meaningful difference in the world.
