We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ashley Mozingo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
Overcoming imposter syndrome has been a journey of self-affirmation for me. Embracing the idea that I can’t be an imposter in a room I was invited to —has been life changing.
With over 12 years of experience in talent development, brand building, and success coaching, my nickname “Coach” reflects the trust I’ve earned. My diverse roles as a journalist, mental health advocate, and lifestyle blogger underscore the authenticity of my journey.
I’ve learned to celebrate my achievements and recognize the value I bring to the table. By reframing my perspective, I’ve turned imposter syndrome on its head. I am not an imposter. I am an invited expert, a trusted guide, and a creative force. So are you.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Ashley, and I wear many hats. My passion lies in talent development, brand building, and guiding individuals towards their unique definitions of success.
My primary goal is simple yet impactful: collaborating with brands and businesses to elevate their brand awareness, aesthetics, and bottom line. If I were on the picket lines, I’d have a sign that says “NO MORE STARVING ARTIST”.
What makes my work truly exciting is the dynamic blend of roles I play and seeing others lights shine. I love to see others dreams come true.
I believe in a holistic approach to success, where creativity and strategic thinking converge to create impact. I am committed to making a transformative difference, whether I’m guiding emerging talents to new heights or sharing my insights through various creative outlets.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Sharpen and accept that you are versatile in your skill sets. Nurture your empathy, and develop an intimate relationship with Faith. Versatility is a cornerstone of my approach and allows me to navigate the dynamic blend of roles I play. Adaptability is key in anything you do. Things will almost ALWAYS change. Life is prone to change. If you’ve got big plans & dreams—start stretching. You’re going to need to be flexible champ.
Empathy leads my interactions as a mentor, advocate, and blogger. Understanding individuals’ and diverse audiences’ aspirations enables me to make meaningful connections. One of the gifts I joke about God giving me, is the gift of relatability. I don’t always love it , but it makes my work easier to do.
I aim to foster positive outcomes in both my business and creative endeavors. I honor my vulnerability. I tend to my softness. Empathy is a superpower, and with all superpowers, you have to learn how to control it (watch any superhero movie ever, and that’s the primary plot.) It’s okay to bring humanity into what you do. It doesn’t make you less capable or weak. While you tend to your own humanity, get serous about your faith. Who or whatever you believe will make things happen for you. You have to know it will. And in moments when you’re unsure—cry, cuss, and drink some water. This trio helps in me in my times of crisis lol.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
My role as a coach and brand strategist has given me many opportunities to work with incredible brands and people.
Since establishing my footing in my coaching role, I’ve had the flexibility to dive into my journalism career. I am currently working on a media outlet dedicated to Hip Hop News & Culture. (Hip Hop is my Soulmate. —And my Wife—my Wife is my Soulmate too lol).
I am working on a HIP-HOP News Outlet called nxus (@nxus.media on IG). I want to collaborate with hip-hop artists and journalists to get my Flavor Magazine on. (Go watch Living Single for reference.)
If you are an artist who would like a music review or a journalist looking to be published, Shoot me an email at [email protected]
You have to know that you are limitless, and in the words of one of my favorite hip hop artists: “You gotta know you to legit / …”
