We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ashley Scott. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ashley below.
Ashley , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience has everything to do with how I was raised. I give all the credit to my parents who both equally played a huge part. My Dad always taught me that no matter what you choose to do or be in life, be the best person at that job. Create your value to others, always perfect your craft, keep educating yourself knowledge is power, practice practice practice, be honest, never lie cheat or steal, and make sure you never hurt anybody. To name a few.
My mother on the other hand is a first generation immigrant from Nicaragua. She came to the country, married my dad and built her own business in childcare. The fact that my mother was from another country, came here and made something of herself and for her family really made me realize that America will show you those who are lazy and those who take advantage of their privileges and opportunity’s. This lit a fire under me, if my mother can do it, so can I!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Ashley Scott and I am located in Sherman Oaks, CA. I am a problematic skincare specialist, specializing in acne, cystic acne, malasma, anti-aging, rosacea, compromised skin, chemical peels and post operative lymphatic drainage. I have been in the industry going on 12 years and on my own for the past 2 years. I started in the industry as a medical assistant doing all the post opt care for a plastic surgeon in Los Angeles, CA. Where I later went back to school and received my estheticians license. Working for a medical spa, I naturally gravitated towards problematic skin and realized that not only did I really enjoy it but the real satisfaction was when you help transform your clients entire self-esteem. After being with the company for 10 years, it was time for me to more on and expand myself as a solo esthetician. 2 years in, I have also recently joined in on the spa side with a cosmetic dental office located in Beverly Hills, called Applemint Cosmetic Dental.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
First would be knowing your lane. Who is your target cliental, what would be the reason a client comes to you and what is it you specialize in. Once you recognize and have a clear understanding of your speciality, educate yourself. Knowledge is power and extremely valuable. When you are extremely educated in the products you use, sell, and the treatments you offer that builds a trust within you and your clients relation. When you can confidently answer any question a client throws your way or let’s say you come off not as confident, the client will sense that and your credibility will either go up or down. Lastly, perfecting your craft. Work work work, you might not see immediate results but you got better. Work, work, work, still no immediate change but you got better. Work work work and now your ridding the wave and feeling confident and are having success!
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m always looking to collaborate with those who are suffering from acne/cystic acne and who are serious in taking action on their ‘clear skin’ journey. I will do the treatments (4-6 treatments for pro bono, treatments needed depending on the clients needs) as long as they purchase home care products throughout the process and keep a strict at home care regimen. To be qualified for this, you need to email and follow my instagram IG:skincarebyashleyy/skincarebyashleyy@gmail.com, explain to me what’s been going on, what you have and haven’t been doing in your skincare, treatments you have tried in the past, why you would be a good candidate for this journey and how committed you are in correcting your skin!
