Meet Ashley Smith

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ashley Smith. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Ashley, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I have not overcome imposter syndrome, but I have gotten better at dealing with it. There are many times when I feel like I’m not good enough or that I am so far behind compared to my peers. At those moments, I look to my past and see how far I’ve come. That gives me the encouragement I need to keep moving forward.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am a pet and family photographer. I specialize in creating heirloom-quality artwork to help people decorate their homes. I love creating large artwork and I have a 30″x30″ print of one of my favorite photos I’ve taken hanging in my living room. I help families capture memories and celebrate their loved ones. My favorite subject to photograph is pets. I love being able to capture a pet’s authentic personality with my camera. A new promotion I am planning is Best Fur Friends sessions, where I take photos of pets with their owners. I want to take photos that capture the special bond between pet and owner.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are creativity, persistence, and a willingness to learn. Out of these three, I think persistence is the biggest one. You have to keep moving forward even when things get difficult and you feel like quitting.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client is someone who wants to decorate their home with beautiful, large, heirloom-quality artwork.
