Meet Ashley Willis

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ashley Willis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Ashley , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I receive my resilience from the lord. I use prayer to help strengthen me. When I find myself in hard and unbearable situations, I pray. Philippians 4:6, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done”.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I wear many hats that I am passionate about, including Christian ministry, providing therapy, and investing in real estate, in addition to being a mom and wife. I believe that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

I am the owner/CEO and lead licensed clinical therapist at Beyond Therapy Healing Center, where I provide Christian therapy to individuals seeking healing through scripture and biblical principles. I am committed to sharing the love of God with my clients, both believers and non-believers.

I am also an entrepreneur in building wealth through real estate, enjoying the challenges and rewards of investing. In the future, I would love to create a podcast inspired by my love for mental health and Christianity.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three qualities that impact my journey are:

1. Don’t worry about things I cannot change. I am learning to let go and let God handle my battles, as stressing will not improve the situation.
2. I have learned that life is hard, but its challenges create resilience, perseverance, and wisdom. James 1:4: “Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
3. Focus on gratitude and what is good and positive to maintain a positive outlook on life.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was to say, “Sorry, I don’t have it” or “Sorry, I can’t help you right now.” This lack of reliance on my parents pushed me to fight harder to achieve things on my own, as I didn’t have anyone to fall back on—it was just me and the Lord. It also helped me develop faith and reliance on God at a young age. As a young adult in college, whenever I needed something, I would pray about it rather than thinking of asking my parents.
