Meet Ashley Wineland

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ashley Wineland. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ashley below.

Ashley, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

One of the questions I get from others a lot is where do I get the energy to be a consistently positive presence online and in person. In all fairness, I think it is important to acknowledge that I do have my days where my energy is not in the happy and fun sphere, but that is normal! For me, being able to maintain a sense of optimism and to consistently share that with others starts with a daily reminder of my why.

Checking in with myself everyday to remember the heart of my purpose and motivation to do the work I’m committed to and pursuing every day is so important! For me, my why is that I love the connection and happiness I bring to myself and others by sharing my love of the performing arts and communicating the messages I care about through my art. Engaging with my community daily through these means is how I replenish my sense of optimism and know that, even on the hard days, pushing through obstacles to build this sense of community and connection is my driving power for continued faith and optimism.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a country music singer/songwriter. I’ve had the pleasure of touring the United States for the last 7 years, and I am currently on my Rolling On Tour! I’ve been working in the music industry for over 10 years now and have produced 3 studio albums with another on the way!

I love connecting with my international community online! My greatest joy is to bring happiness to others through the power of music, performance, and storytelling. When I’m not living in a tour bus, Arizona is, and always has been, home!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My top 3 biggest impact zones for my journey thus far are the following:

1. Always be a student
2. Learn how to pivot
3. Know when to step back

Their importance:
1. Being a student means that you are never done growing. The second you think you know it all, or at least know what you are doing in totality, you’re going to stunt your development. There are opportunities to learn all around us. Take in the knowledge around you and go seeking after information you’re after! The best way to grow is by studying and talking to those who are doing what you want to do. Give yourself all the information you could need to succeed.
2. Life and business is never going to go as you plan. Plain and simple. Getting caught up in the heartache and headache of a plan not developing in the intended way will only slow you down or bring you to a halt. Being able to take a breath and work through a new way to problem solve and continue to grow, even if it looks different from the initial vision is vital to expanding.
3. With that being said, there are also times when it is better to stop beating your head against the wall and trying to force something that isn’t destined to pan out. Knowing when it is time to call it and step back from a situation to let it breathe is everything. Space and rest is good for our bodies and minds. It can give us the space to come up with new solutions or give us the chance to come to peace with knowing that it is time to bring something to an end.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

One of my favorite books that has been extremely helpful for me is ‘The 5 Second Rule’ by Mel Robbins. The premise of the book is to showcase how we can take charge of our lives by simply making executive decisions in a 5 second window. Mel goes into a multitude of examples as to how this works and why.

For me, this book has helped equip me with an easy to implement tool to help combat fear, decision fatigue, and a way to give me an extra boost of momentum to accomplish tasks when I am not feeling motivated to move. I would highly recommend this book to anyone needing a little boost of momentum during their day to accomplish their goals!
