We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ashley Witt. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ashley below.
Hi Ashley, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I would say the biggest reason I get my resilience is when I became a mom. My oldest 2 kids dad wasn’t the best relationship I’ve been in. It really took a toll on me. It was 6 years of a mentally and physically abuse that was an exhausting nightmare unfortunately. I’ve always been taught that to make anything happen you have to always believe in yourself and push through any negative situations that comes your way. Biggest thing I always tell people and tell myself everyday is always be positive. You are always dealt stuff you can handle even if you dont understand at the moment it will make you stronger. I’ve also try to instill into my daugthers to always work hard , do your best and dont feel sorry for being different. I lost my dad at 15 and my mother at 27. Which after loosing my dad. I lost my mom as well. She changed and I had to distance myself away from her. Which meant I had to be strong and grow up fast. My mom was always trying to start a new business or another idea, always trying to work on something. Growing up in that business hit a huge roadblock growing up. We got shutdown for lead poisoning. Which not even the safest level is 10. Which my mom had 100 I had 80, which doctors thought we would be vegetables. That was another turning point as a child. Live your life to the fullest. I could of never lived to have my kids or accomplish anything ive have done.I’ve always been willing to work hard. In life nothing is easy. I’ve had to restart and rebuild my life multiple times. Ive never been the type to just give in. Ive left stuff behind rebuilt for my kids to get out of situations which werent the best. Ive started a new job recently and have switched fields and got outta retail. Which that’s all I’ve known my whole life even growing up in my mother’s business. I’m now a National Account Manager at a Freight Logistics Company. Which everyday I surprise myself by how well I’m doing. I think always about my kids and my loving husband and how we are working to build the best life we can. That’s what keeps me going. Thats my strength I’ve been through so much things that could break some people and to be here stronger than ever is a blessing. Even if your having a rough time in anything always believe in yourself no matter what. Don’t let your past define who you are.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I love attending car shows, track days and everything else. We love doing alot of stuff car related. I actually will be re doing some stuff on the nissan and re wrapping somethings. Also got a lancer now again to start another car project which that one isnt going to be pink,SURPRISINGLY. My brand is just being truthful to yourself. Always be genuine. What you get is what you see .
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I believe the biggest is SELF CONFIDENCE. Which was a big one I had to repair. Going through alot of the things that I did when I was younger it was took from me. Second would probably be UNIQUENESS i always trying to be different be true to me and dont care how people feel. I drive and pink and teal car. I did it when it wasn’t the cool thing. Last one would be FRIENDLY, im always willing to talk to say hi everything even my husband says when we go places everyone says hi and I have to talk to everyone. Being friendly could make someones day and you never know.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
My life is constantly on go go go. With work, kids, husband and our hobbies and yes it can take a toll and overwhelm me. The biggest thing I have to tell myself is sometimes is just STOP. When you get a chance stop and do nothing. That 5 mins of just focused on nothing to get your mind and emotions back in check. If you dont take the time out for yourself it will all crash down . Self-care is a necessity, it’s important to always believe a better you. Watch tv,play video games or even take a nap .
