Meet Ashlie Crystal

We were lucky to catch up with Ashlie Crystal recently and have shared our conversation below.

Ashlie, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I enjoy nurturing my creativity and expressing my vision to the world. While I sometimes face challenges, I approach them with resilience. When I am not feeling that creative energy, I use that advantage by taking breaks and returning to my projects with a fresh perspective and renewed clarity. When I encounter creative blocks, I seek inspiration in various ways to reignite my creativity.

I find inspiration everywhere, and when I need a boost, I put on my headphones and enjoy shopping. It’s about something other than spending money; I walk around, look at window displays, let my surroundings captivate me, and see if anything catches my eye. I call it my shopping therapy.

Another way I keep my creativity alive is by attending music festivals or events. The creativity at these events inspires me and often sparks new ideas. Engaging with people, sharing conversations, and dancing also get my creative energy flowing.

In quieter moments at home, I create an inspiring and comfortable atmosphere. Decluttering my space, whether redecorating or clearing my mind, helps me find clarity while working on projects. I love unwinding with my favorite movies and TV shows, listening to uplifting music, practicing self-care, and spending quality time with my French bulldog, Yoda.

When I felt my creative spark, I returned to the project I was working on. This project could be art, fashion design, music, photoshoots, fashion styling, or modeling. Working on these passions makes me feel alive, and I am grateful for the opportunity to channel my creative lifestyle.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My passions include fashion design, styling, beauty, music, graphic design, and modeling. My mission is to combine all my creative projects with music. My music allows me to intertwine all my passions. I love expressing myself through my wardrobe, which sometimes can have a pink princess vibe or a dark techno goddess. My duality makes me unique and allows me to play around creatively with different elements.

I currently DJ techno in Los Angeles’s underground warehouse scene. I am focusing my energy on my music, creating and producing new sounds and vocals, and I want to expand and grow as an artist. I aim to headline top festivals around America and eventually in Europe.

I’ll participate as a model in an upcoming runway show and photoshoots. My confidence has grown over time and comes naturally to me, which has allowed me to feel confident in front of the camera and runways. I have modeled for several brands, including Cherokee, Elevate Angel, LICKNDIP Studios, Lumi Shop, Sparkle Fairy Couture, Namaslay, Shadi Clothing, Mous3pie, and more.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Compassion, attention to detail, and persistence. I want to share some wisdom I’ve learned: life can be complicated, and you may feel like nothing is working out in your favor, but if you switch your mindset to the positive, things can change. If it’s meant to be, it will be. You get a second chance when you hit rock bottom and can transform into a stronger, more beautiful version of yourself.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I want to collaborate with positive, energetic people who are passionate about their work. I love working with photographers, stylists, music artists, designers, and creatives. I am seeking more collaboration and partnership with hardworking, respectful, and motivated people who share values like mine.
I am obsessed with creative projects and want to connect with driven individuals to see the vision together. I am always open to new ideas and collaborating on something different next level.

I created the graphic design styling edits and the iconic Megan Fox look.
For my FIDM final styling project, I was inspired by Lours Et La Poupee. As the creative director, I fully styled the entire shoot and developed the concept.
