Meet Ashlynn Racquel

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ashlynn Racquel a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Ashlynn, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Imposter Syndrome definitely comes in waves for me. There are times when I’ll catch myself thinking I’m not quite where I’m supposed to be or wondering if I’m truly qualified for the next step. But then I remind myself of all the hard work that’s gotten me here. I’ve spent years in this industry, learning from both the highs and the lows, and building the skills and relationships that have brought me to where I am now.

When those feelings pop up, I like to reground myself by reflecting on my journey—where I started, what I’ve learned, and how far I’ve come. I’m exactly where I need to be, and I’m constantly reminding myself that I’ve earned my place in this space. Embracing that mindset helps me stay focused and motivated, knowing that everything is part of my path.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m Ashlynn Racquel, the owner of Ashlynn Racquel Media, where I focus on transforming brands with creative, results-driven marketing strategies. What excites me most about my work is the ability to connect with brands and help them tell authentic stories that resonate with their audiences. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Reflecting on my journey, the three qualities that have been most impactful are resilience, adaptability, and strategic thinking.

Resilience – There have been so many ups and downs, but the key is always getting back up after a setback. Whether it’s a challenging client or feeling uncertain about the next step, resilience has been critical in pushing forward. I learned that every challenge is an opportunity to grow, and not to let failure define me.

Advice: For those just starting out, embrace failures as lessons. Don’t let them knock your confidence down—use them to fuel your next move. Keep going, even when it’s tough!

Adaptability – The digital world is always changing, and staying flexible has been crucial to keeping up. From shifting social media algorithms to new trends and tools, being able to pivot and adjust has helped me stay ahead of the curve.

Advice: Keep learning. Don’t be afraid to experiment and adjust your approach as you go. The more open you are to change, the more you’ll be able to thrive.

Strategic Thinking – Marketing isn’t just about being creative; it’s about being strategic and thinking long-term. Having a clear vision of where I want to take my business has kept me focused. I’ve always made decisions with a larger plan in mind, whether it’s positioning myself in the market or choosing partnerships.

Advice: Take the time to plan. Have a clear vision, set your goals, and always think about the bigger picture. Focus on how your daily decisions will align with your long-term aspirations.
To anyone starting out: be patient with yourself. Success doesn’t happen overnight, but with these qualities, you’ll be well on your way. Keep learning, stay adaptable, and trust the process!

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I step away from the project or work for a bit. I find that realigning myself and coming back with fresh eyes helps me reset. It’s easy to get caught up in the pressure, but sometimes taking a break allows me to refocus and come up with better ideas.

My best advice for overcoming overwhelm is to tap into your younger self. Think about how you would have approached the situation as a kid—no boundaries, no limitations, just pure creativity. I believe your inner child holds a lot of answers, and viewing things from that perspective can help you break free from the stress and rediscover your creativity.

When you’re feeling stuck, remember: the most amazing ideas often come when you let go of the pressure and just create for the sake of it. Letting go of the need for perfection can unlock some of your best work.
