Aspect The Poet, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
The meaning of Effective and Successful, I believe are subjective. To me, effective and successful mean accomplishing goals and showing constant progress as a father, husband, employee, friend, son, sibling, relative and follower of Christ. One of my goals in life has always been to leave some type of contribution towards humanity while setting an example for my children and those around me. Music is just one avenue in which I can make a small but positive difference in this world. Anytime I write a verse, perform a track or release a single, my main objective is to encourage. The name Aspect the Poet, refers to a poet who speaks about an encouraging aspect of life or at least takes an encouraging standpoint. With this state of mind, distractions or negative waves are of no concern. With God’s strength, I hope to keep creating fruitful music that can give out some type of good. Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
When the heart, mind and soul want to speak, music and poetry rise to the surface. With so much negativity in this world, this poet/artist hopes to focus on encouraging and positive aspects of life. Even when a poem introduces suffering, the ultimate goal is to help his people reflect on the good. Aspect the Poet makes music for His Lord and Savior (Jesus) as well as the people. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Work ethic a willingness to learn and a focus on goals have helped me create quality music. Consistency is key with these three qualities. Not only have I applied this to the music I create, but towards other areas of my life.
