Meet Assie khoussa

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Assie Khoussa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Assie, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
It’s not a choice, it’s how I survive. Setbacks? Yeah, they come. But I don’t have the luxury of staying down. Having my son, becoming a single mom – that’s what really turned on the fire. One look at his face, the weight of that responsibility – gotta feed him, gotta keep going. No other choice. Africa raised me on that – making something out of nothing, starting from scratch. It’s in my blood.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Hi, I’m Assie, the founder of Eizzy Baby and Eizzy Transitions. As a Senegalese immigrant who arrived in the US at age 9, I’ve always strived to make a positive impact. Eizzy Baby: Born from a Busy Mom’s Needs
Becoming a single mom after having my son was a turning point. As a busy parent, I craved baby products that made life easier, especially feeding tools. My son loved to eat, but also loved to make a mess!
This led me to develop and curate functional baby products that would be a lifesaver for parents like myself. Sharing these “gems” with other parents online birthed Eizzy Baby, Our collection features simple, multipurpose items that parents (like me!) love.
Introducing Eizzy Transitions: Empowering a New Chapter
Now, I’m thrilled to introduce Eizzy Transition, my new venture! This stemmed from my experience working in special education and using creativity to empower individuals.
Right after college, I worked with a non-profit helping children with disabilities transition successfully into adult life after high school. Through this initiative, I helped place individuals with employers throughout New Jersey, giving them purpose and their families immense hope.
I collaborated with various companies, hospitals, and municipalities to build individualized employment opportunities for my students. Now, I’m excited to bring this personalized service to many parents and school districts nationwide through Eizzy Transitions.
We go beyond finding the perfect job; we offer training, support systems, and a nurturing work environment to ensure a fulfilling experience.
I’m so excited about this new venture and the chance to empower parents and individuals on their journeys!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, my journey has been most impacted by three key strengths: authenticity, creativity, and perseverance.

Being True to Myself: This is the foundation of everything I do. Early on, I embraced my unique perspective – being a Senegalese immigrant and a single mom – and allowed it to guide my decisions. My advice? Don’t be afraid to stand out. Embrace your uniqueness and experiences, they make your voice powerful.

Using My Creativity: I wasn’t afraid to think outside the box. Eizzy Baby was born from the simple need for better feeding tools, and Eizzy Transitions came from wanting to empower individuals with disabilities. Tip: Nurture your creativity! Challenge assumptions, explore different solutions, and don’t be afraid to try.

Never Giving Up: The road to success is rarely smooth. There will be setbacks, but don’t let them define you. My work in special education taught me the importance of resilience. Remember: Persistence is key. Learn from your mistakes, dust yourself off, and keep moving forward.

By focusing on these core areas, you’ll be well-equipped to navigate your own entrepreneurial journey. Remember, it’s okay to be different, embrace your creativity, and most importantly, never give up on your dreams!

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
The biggest challenge I’m facing right now is overcoming imposter syndrome. When I started Eizzy Baby, I found immense success by being authentically myself. I connected with parents by showing the “real” side of parenthood – the messes, the struggles, and the joys.

However, as the business grew, self-doubt crept in. I worried about judgment and started filtering my content. This backfired – engagement dropped because my audience missed the raw connection.

Realizing this was a turning point. I’m back to focusing on authenticity. I’m sharing the ups and downs of running a business alongside the joys of motherhood. It’s scary at times, but I know it resonates with my audience and helps me connect with them on a deeper level.

Additionally, I’m surrounding myself with a supportive network. I connect with other entrepreneurs who understand the challenges of imposter syndrome. Talking to them reminds me I’m not alone and helps me stay grounded.

Overcoming imposter syndrome is a daily battle, but by embracing authenticity and building a strong support system, I’m confident I can silence the self-doubt and continue to grow Eizzy Baby.
