Meet Atika Greene

We were lucky to catch up with Atika Greene recently and have shared our conversation below.

Atika, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from my younger self. Growing up I spent a lot of my adolescent years getting bullied and teased. As I’ve gotten older I truly believe that I was going through all of that to help me stay strong in an industry that tries to tear you down. Along with all the trials and tests that it takes to create a successful career in the entertainment industry. I keep fighting for her because she would’ve thought this version of me was so cool. I am living my dreams even when the bank account doesn’t match. I get to do something that I love.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am an actress turned content creator. I love telling stories and exploring new characters. Social media has become a haven where I have built a community of authenticity and transparency. I enjoy telling the truth about my journey because it will help others go after their dreams. It is easy to get caught up in the superficiality of the industry, but falling in love with the craft is your way around that. My mission is to inspire the underdog to go after their spot at the table. To fight imposter syndrome, doubt, and fear of imperfection. When I first became an actress it was to finally express all the feelings that I had inside that seemed to stay trapped in my mind. I am a poet as well, and that was the best way I could express myself until I found acting. I started Black in Hollywood to provide resources for my fellow actors. No matter what level they were at career-wise I wanted to provide tips, tricks, and inspiration. My big goal for Black in Hollywood is for it to become a brick-and-mortar for consultations. I want to advise people in their careers in business. I love helping, connecting, and showing people new ways to go after the same dream. This isn’t a cookie-cutter industry. What might work for me might not work for someone else, but that’s the cool part about the experience. We will all experience different results, and what might work for me might not work for you or vice versa. It’s about having someone to bounce ideas off of and offer you some new ideas based on their individual experience. Let Content Queen Atika Greene “Ms. Black in Hollywood” be that for you!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities that were most impactful on my journey are love, compassion, and patience. Loving the process, yourself, and the people around you. Each of those is for different reasons, but love can inspire you when you have nothing left. Love yourself because sometimes you might be the only one that can save you. Love the journey because you never know when things might shift for you, but if it doesn’t happen when you expected it, take the clock off and enjoy it. Enjoy your tribe of people around you. Surround yourself with good people. It will make or break you. Compassion for others on a separate journey and letting them grow how they need to. Not letting their timeline be yours, but supporting them along the way. Patience is the biggest one for me because I expected things to pop off for me career-wise a long time ago. It might look a certain way to people, but I am still on this journey praying for the next opportunity. Either way, I am finally learning to love myself, love the journey, love my tribe, be compassionate and most of all have patience. Who put that watch on my wrist?

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am excited to partner and collaborate with brands that are passionate about growth and confidence. My big goal this year is to become a full-time content creator. Brand partnerships are one avenue that I know can allow that goal to be met. I am also excited to start consulting. I want to help people expand their businesses, social media, and brands. I am focused on actors and artists in Los Angeles. If you are an actor and want to chat about your career or ask for advice and ideas to expand your brand, I am your girl. @Blk.in.Hollywood on Instagram. On the other hand, if you are looking for an actress or content creator, look no further than @Atika.Greene on Instagram.
