We were lucky to catch up with Aubree Rizek recently and have shared our conversation below.

Aubree, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

I’m inspired by my creativity based off of my experiences like making names in my palettes and choosing the colors for them. I try to get more creative so people can be more inspired to use the colors based off of how it sounds. I genuinely keep my creativity alive from my family and friends because they like to try and help me with ideas and make them more creative. They keep me going to make more ideas for my business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

SparkyCat Cosmetics is a brand founded during the pandemic, that will celebrate its fourth year in business this October, all online.

Our journey began when an 8-year-old named Aubree dared to dream big. With her mother’s unwavering support, Aubree’s passion for cosmetics ignited the spark that led to SparkyCat Cosmetics. Now, at the age of 13, Aubree is the driving force behind our brand, proving that dreams do come true with determination.

Our product line features vibrant eyeshadows, lipsticks, and mascara, all meticulously crafted for exceptional pigmentation and long-lasting wear. What sets us apart is not just our products but also our incredible TikTok community, which has grown to 38,000 followers and counting.

As we move forward, we recognize the need for guidance in expanding our brand into physical stores. This is unfamiliar territory for us, especially as we balance this venture with other commitments, including traditional W-2 jobs. We hope to do this in the future with everyone support.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Marketing, research, voice of your customer.
Make sure to keep up with the most recent trends but also make it so that you’re different. When creating products we like selecting the best qualities but with our vision in mind. We love seeing our ideas come to life.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

Our biggest challenge is getting into larger stores. The makeup world is very saturated and we are a small link in it. We would love to get our products in stores like Ulta and Walmart. This would allow others to experience our brand.
