Meet Aubrey Johnson

We were lucky to catch up with Aubrey Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Aubrey, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

I keep my creativity alive by finding more and more ways to romanticize life. I find inspiration in everyday moments- conversations, nature, books, and even the small details most people might overlook. I’ve never been one to question my existence or even my purpose in life, but I often find myself searching for new experiences and skillsets (especially when it comes to creating content!)

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m a content creator and social media strategist who specializes in helping wedding vendors, small businesses, and brands tell their stories in a way that connects with their audience. What excites me most is capturing the in-between moments and creating authentic, emotionally evoking content.

My brand focuses on creating meaningful connections and lasting memories, whether I’m capturing a wedding day, building a strategy, or helping with a brand refresh. Lately, I’ve been expanding into offering mini audits and revamps for business owners looking for a well-rounded brand. I also have some exciting rebrand work happening behind the scenes! I’m leaning towards a vibrant, fun energy that reflects who I am.

For me, it’s all about making people feel seen through the stories I help tell.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I’d have to say adaptability, relationship-building, and storytelling.

Adaptability is the result of working in a fast-paced industry. The social media world is ever changing, and I had to learn how to pivot quickly. There were plenty of times that I had to experiment with new platforms or shift my approach for different clients. My advice to anyone starting out is to treat change as a part of the process. Every shift is an opportunity to grow!

Relationship-building has been quite impactful for me. In a world, that is constantly telling you what to do and who to be, I try to be unapologetically myself. In doing so, I’ve made genuine, long-lasting connections with people. Whether that be a wedding day, bridal shoot, or branding session, focus on building real relationships, not just clients.

Storytelling is what transforms simple videos into content that connects. In the beginning, I had to practice paying attention to the small details and how they played into the emotions of the moment. Whatever it is you are working on, you have to learn to translate the small details because they give true perspective.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

Right now, I find it hard to balance the creative side of my work with the business side. I love to capture and create stories, but running a business pulls me away from that creative fuel.

I’ve been setting clearer boundaries with my time. Systems are being developed and set in place to streamline processes on the backend of my business. Also, I intentionally set aside time to dive into my creativity aside from my business. In that time, I have the space and freedom to create just for myself.
