Meet Aubri Ebony Williams

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aubri Ebony Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Aubri Ebony , so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

I think having a strong sense of self is beyond important because no matter what anyone thinks of you, your views of yourself are so strong that no comment can break you. You won’t always be surrounded by people who fully support you, or maybe you will. However, in the event that you aren’t, having a strong sense of self will allow you to rise above the nonsense that could be potentially thrown your way. Know your worth, who you are and walk in your light knowing that YOU are YOU.

Embrace your individuality and love the skin you’re in.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I think a good place to start would be right after I got accepted into Stetson University and pursued a Master’s Degree in Marriage, Couple & Family Counseling. I’m proud to say that despite having no laptop, taking photos of my friends books to do the homework because I couldn’t afford them and being kicked out of my internship due to supervisor biases, I graduated in time with a 3.0 GPA. During my schooling, I signed to a modeling agency in Florida, and my first job was a billboard for Kate Spade at Disney Springs. 2 years later, I booked a model campaign with Creme of Nature that placed me on bus stops, billboards and I’ve graced two editions of Essence Magazine. The year following, I became 1 of Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Top 35 and grew my social media to over 60,000 followers. After graduation of my Masters Degree, I signed to multiple agencies and became a Commercial Model where I discovered that I loved acting. I later became “The Model Counselor” and have spoken to icons like Nigel Barker on model’s Mental Health. In 2020, I started tv and film acting and that brings me to today. Not only have I appeared on live streams with creatives like Kai Cenat, the Therapist he hired to beat the video game he struggled with last year but I have turned my passion for mental health and healing into a series where my proof of concept D. Diary (which now streams on Tubi and Amazon Prime) won best scripted drama at Natpe and was an official selection for the Black Girls Rock Film Festival, I now am working towards an Education Dramedy, where each episode highlights a different mental health topic called.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Drive, adaptability & being tapped into the source. If you’re not tapped in to the source, how do you know where you’re going. I feel like I’ve always been led down a path and at first I wouldn’t claim it. I didn’t claim being a model even though I had billboards and magazine publications because my belief in myself were limited. However, after affirming myself and moving on the direction that felt good. I found my purpose.

My advice, trust your gut, explore every ounce of you and if something comes to mind, do it. Do it until you get good at it or until you’re called to do something different. You never know what one thing can lead to, and that’s the beauty of life.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

Patience has been my biggest area of growth. I’m the kind of person who wants something when I want it and sometimes the universe doesn’t make something easily accessible to you until you’re ready. Patience teaches you what to look out for, what needs your attention and ultimately slows you down so that you can look around and find gratitude for who you are and what’s around you.
