Meet Audrey Gallagher

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Audrey Gallagher a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Audrey, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Everyone in the world has a purpose. For the longest time, I thought I was the only person in the universe that didn’t have one.

In college, I felt completely lost—jumping from marine biology to accounting, only to finally graduate five years later with a degree in communications. It wasn’t until I started exploring storytelling and creativity through acting and social media that I felt like I’d found my purpose.

I discovered my love for acting thanks to some amazing friends I met in the industry who encouraged me to pursue it. But what truly sparked my passion was watching Pearl and seeing Mia Goth’s incredible performance. Her dedication and artistry lit a fire in me, and I knew I wanted to follow in her footsteps, using the power of storytelling to connect with audiences.

Acting gave me a way to connect with people on a deeper level, and social media allowed me to share stories that resonated with others. My goal became helping people feel seen, understood, and maybe even a little less alone.

Moving away from home was another pivotal moment. It was scary, but it opened me up to new cultures, diverse perspectives, and incredible people who broadened my understanding of the world. That experience shaped who I am and gave me a stronger sense of purpose.

My friends call me “Gally”, which is more than just a nickname due to my last name Gallagher, it has now become a part of my entire personality. I’ve grown into a new version of myself when I was given the nickname and as a result, found my purpose and self-confidence. “Gally” is the version of me I have always wanted to be and more.

Now, I feel like I’m exactly where I’m meant to be—sharing stories, embracing creativity, and hopefully inspiring others to follow their own paths, even if it takes a little longer to figure it all out.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

As an actress and content creator, I’m fortunate to be part of some truly exciting experiences. I attend premieres and events like this year’s Joker and Smile 2, which not only allow me to connect with others in the industry but also provide a chance to share those behind-the-scenes moments with my followers on social media. I love giving people a glimpse into the magic of filmmaking and the connections that make it all possible.

Currently, I’m acting for the Reel Short team, which has been such an incredible opportunity to hone my craft and work on creative, impactful projects. Reel Short is one of the most downloaded apps and is continuing to grow at a rapid rate. I am so grateful to be working with their team and be part of the magic. Storytelling is at the heart of everything I do, and being part of this team has allowed me to collaborate with talented people who inspire me every day.

Looking ahead, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be writing my first script for a horror film next year. Horror has always been my favorite genre—there’s something so raw and emotional about it that resonates with me. This project will be a chance to tell a story that’s uniquely mine and step into a new role as a writer while continuing my journey as an actress.

Ultimately, everything I do—from acting to social media—is about connecting with people. Whether it’s making them laugh, giving them chills, or simply letting them escape for a little while, I want my work to leave an impact. I’m excited for what’s to come and grateful for every opportunity to create and share my art.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, three key qualities have been the most impactful in my journey: adaptability, resilience, and a genuine curiosity for learning.

First, adaptability has been crucial. My path hasn’t been a straight line, and being open to change—whether it was switching majors in college or taking on opportunities I never imagined—helped me discover my true passions. For anyone starting their journey, I’d say don’t be afraid to pivot. Sometimes, the detours lead you exactly where you’re meant to be.

Second, resilience has carried me through the challenges of building a creative career. Acting and content creation can be unpredictable and, at times, disheartening. But learning how to bounce back, stay motivated, and keep pushing forward has made all the difference. To cultivate resilience, I recommend finding a strong support system and celebrating even the small wins along the way.

Finally, curiosity has been my compass. Whether it’s studying acting techniques, exploring new cultures through travel, or diving into the horror genre to understand its emotional power, curiosity has driven me to grow and improve. My advice here is simple: never stop asking questions and seeking out experiences that broaden your perspective.

For anyone starting out, I’d say embrace the process. Growth takes time, but each challenge and success adds to your story. Keep learning, stay adaptable, and trust that with resilience, you’ll get to where you want to be.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

While everyone in my life has been essential in helping me learn and become who I am today, the person who has helped me the most is my Dad.

My dad has always been my hero, he really is the best dad in the whole world. I know a lot of people say that, but in my case, it’s the truth. You know those typical dads in movies and TV shows who always tell corny jokes, grill in the summer and give the best advice? That’s my dad.

Growing up, he worked a lot but somehow never missed any of my soccer games. He made me feel important by doing this and helped show me the importance of showing up for others and making time for those you care about.

At night, he would tuck me and my siblings in and make up these incredible stories about “Candy Land” and come up with creative adventures the characters would go on. I feel like I got a lot of my creativity from him.

My dad has always been honest, hardworking, charismatic and creative. I was lucky enough to grow up learning from him and growing with these same traits as pillars for who I am today.

My dad has directly helped me face challenges and be successful but has also given me the tools to overcome obstacles on my own.
