Meet Aurora Threats

We were lucky to catch up with Aurora Threats recently and have shared our conversation below.

AURORA, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

First, I’d like to thank you for reaching out to me. It’s truly a privilege. Discovering my purpose has been a gradual journey, shaped not by a single revelation but by a series of moments where creativity, joy, and self-reflection came together to reveal what truly moves me.

My purpose began to take shape through my work in the arts, especially when I discovered new facets of myself or observed the profound impact creative expression had on others. Each experience whether writing, performing, or producing added new depth to my understanding enlightening me on how to bring art to life in ways that people can truly appreciate. I realized that using my talents to inspire, uplift, and connect was what truly fulfilled me.

But this journey didn’t stop there. I continued to grow by listening to God’s calling, learning that my creative work became most impactful when it focused on lifting others up and shining a light on shared human experiences. Whether I’m writing, creating, or collaborating with others, I feel my purpose align when creativity brings us closer, especially as a community.

Purpose, for me, has become a commitment to serve and inspire, driven by faith, resilience, and a belief that art and storytelling can heal, uplift, and unite us all. My journey continues to unfold, with each new creative endeavor deepening my sense of purpose.

I am reminded at this moment that we are God’s handiwork, and He not only created us, He prepared good works for us to fulfill.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am someone who enjoys creating at heart, driven by a deep passion for the arts and the transformative power of creative expression. As a filmmaker, writer, and creator, my career has been shaped by a commitment to crafting stories that inspire, uplift, and connect people. Whether I’m writing, producing, or directing, my work is rooted in the belief that art has the power to spark change, promote healing, and bring communities together.

My film Supercilious stands as a historic milestone, marking the first award-winning short film collaboration between U.S. and Ghanaian talent to be nominated at the 54th NAACP Image Awards and it was accomplished during a global lockdown. The film also garnered multiple awards at international film festivals, further solidifying its global appeal and the strength of this cross-cultural collaboration. This recognition is both a personal triumph and a breakthrough for international collaboration. When I saw the announcement released by Fulton Film Ghana, LTD, stating, “BREAKING NEWS: The First Ghanaian-USA Collaborated Short Animated Film Gets Nominated at This Year’s 54th NAACP Image Awards,” it was a powerful moment of gratitude, celebration, and validation. This achievement is a testament to the power of unity, diversity, and pushing creative boundaries internationally.

My journey began long before anyone else recognized it, but I always knew my purpose. My career spans across film, television, theater, and print. At sixteen, I founded The Dancing Jazzorettes, a dance troupe created to help raise money for a cause that deeply resonated with me. The group included Stephanie Robinson, Diana Powell, Anntwana Chirse, and Jackie Reed. This experience became one of the first pivotal moments in discovering my purpose and showcasing my creativity to a cheering audience and standing ovations. From casting to choreography and styling the outfits, I was deeply involved in every aspect of the production. The success of the group was overwhelming—our invitation to perform at Richwood High School in Monroe, LA, was an eye-opener. I became a believer in possibilities. I didn’t know how we would get there when I was only a teenager, but we did, and The Dancing Jazzorettes left a lasting impression. This experience taught me that no dream is too big to pursue.

I believe my purpose is to serve and inspire through creative work that not only entertains but also fosters a sense of belonging and understanding. Whether I’m producing a play, a film, writing a script, or working on a community project, my intention is always to empower others. This drive is fueled by my faith and a deep commitment to the belief that art can heal, unite, and uplift.

Although I am reserved by nature, I am passionate about using my platform to encourage others to discover and embrace their own purpose. I never imagined that God would one day place me in a position to become a trailblazer, and make a positive impact on the world globally.

I’m truly excited about what 2025 holds. The projects I have in the works are not only creatively fulfilling but are also a continuation of my journey to break boundaries and inspire others.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Resilience: There were many moments when I didn’t know what to do or which path to take. During those times, I relied on my faith and abilities, and just started doing what I knew best. Resilience kept me moving forward, even when the path ahead wasn’t clear. It’s not about having all the answers, but about trusting the process and staying steady in your purpose. Even when the path isn’t clear, each small step brings you closer to your goal.

Creativity: Creativity has been at the core of everything I’ve done. From founding The Dancing Jazzorettes at 16 to producing a film, writing scripts, and authoring books like Behind the Lines and A Gumbo of Poems & Quotes, my creativity has allowed me to see the world in new ways and find unique solutions to problems. My advice for those starting out is to nurture your creativity every day. Experiment, explore, and never limit your imagination. Trust your instincts and allow your creative mind to evolve.

Collaboration: One of the biggest milestones in my career was the collaboration between myself and Ghanaian talent for the film Supercilious. It taught me the importance of working with others to create something bigger than what you could do alone. Collaboration broadens your perspective and opens doors to opportunities you wouldn’t have otherwise had. Don’t be afraid to reach out to others, build your network, and offer your skills in partnership with people whose work you admire. Learning from others is key to growth, and working together can lead to groundbreaking moments.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

The most impactful lesson my parents taught me was to pray, trust God, and work hard. They emphasized the importance of education and instilled in me the belief that I could achieve anything as long as I remained dedicated and true to my values. They taught me perseverance, faith, and the power of creative expression. Even when my path seemed uncertain, they supported me, encouraging me to follow my passions without fear of failure and to ignore the naysayers. Their unwavering belief in me gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams, and their example of humility and service continues to shape how I approach both my personal and professional life.
