We recently connected with Austen Nobles and have shared our conversation below.
Austen, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My life experiences and mindset. I used to wonder why certain things happened in my life or why I felt like I was not enough.
I’ve learned it’s essential to break out of complacency, practice self-care, and have ambition.
I believe more people should work towards empowering themselves. Having the resilience to do so is vital. It’s not about how many times you fall – it’s about how many times you pick yourself back up.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a recording artist and music producer, honing my craft for the past 14 years.
Some critical elements of my brand are:
• My love for canines
• Reflective and emotive lyrics
• Moody and grunge production
Some things I’m working on:
• Learning how to become a great storyteller
• Experimenting with my production style
• Turning my passion into a full-time job
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most crucial skills I’ve learned as an artist are how to create content, produce, record and mix my records.
As a student, I listen to different music genres, consume multiple forms of art, and listen to the world inside of me for clues.
If you’re early in your journey, YouTube is your best friend. The amount of credible information is outstanding. There’s more about being an artist and the music industry now than when I first started. You must take advantage of it.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
I’d suggest making a routine for yourself.
• Meditate
• Journal
• Take a walk
• Read or listen to an uplifting podcast
• Call a good friend.
Afterwards, make time to create. It should be essential you develop a set of resources as a go-to when your mental health is struggling. You’re human; it’s okay to feel and heal.
