Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Austin Rupp. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Austin , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic is quite simple really. you don’t have to be talented, you just have to out work the guy next to you. Being successful is just a numbers game. The person who puts in the most hours is going to be the most successful. You also need to be able to stay in it. You are going to have bad days, months or years, but if you stick it out you will find success. Nobody who quit ever succeeded.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
So I am a full time photographer, filmmaker, and content creator. I grew up in California and spent most of my upbringing studying how to draw and paint. I picked up my first camera in 2021 and have been in love with the craft ever since.
One a day to day basis I work a lot on social media, creating photos and videos to share with he world. These can range from new products I’ve found that help my workflow or a portrait session I recently shot.
I also work with a lot brands, like NanLite or ProMaster, to create beautiful imagery that showcases their products in action.
I think the best part of what I do is having the freedom to do what I love each day and create art for others to enjoy and be inspired by.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think looking back three qualities that were most impactful for my journey were; humility, endurance, and passion.
Humility is key because, when you first start anything, you are going to be bad at it. very few people are naturally gifted at anything so you need to be able to take feedback and learn from your mistakes and improve.
This leads into why endurance is so important because you are not going to get good overnight. It is going to take a lot hours to make your dreams a reality. so many people will try for a few days, see little to no success, and the just give up. You have to go the distance.
Lastly passion is key because that is what is going to keep you motivated. passion isn’t enough though. Something I live by is that, “Passion will get you up in the morning, but dedication will get you out the door”
I think the one piece of advice i would give to those just starting out just go the distance. stay in the fight and work hard to improve everyday. Don’t measure your success in weeks, but years.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
I think the most impactful thing my parents ever did for me was simply believing in me when i didn’t believe in myself. They always knew i could be great at whatever I decided to put my mind to and where there to support me every step of the way.
