We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Avaryana Rose. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Avaryana below.
Hi Avaryana , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I definitely wasn’t born with it. I had always been a very timid, shy and introverted child. So much so, that I really struggled with eye contact. After doing years of allstar cheer, that definitely helped. As crude as it sounds, what really helped with my confidence was going through bullying. After relentless cyber and in person bullying, I learned to not care what other people thought or said about me. Their words couldn’t hurt me more than I let them.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’ve been passionate about Acting for over 5 years now, but only recently did I dip my fingers in the writing world. I’ve always loved reading, blazing through multi hundred page books in a day. I wrote my first ever movie, (with help of course) called ‘Final Act’. It’s set to film this month! I am tremendously excited. With the help of my lovely family, I also started my own production company, Babe Entertainment. Through Babe Entertainment I’ve helped to produce 4 movies! Bitter Souls, Spirit Springs, The Caretaker, and now Final Act!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think being born a very observant person has really helped further my career. I watched the people I admired, watching how they moved, commanded the room around them, and how they spoke. Someone I always observe closely is my own Dad. He is a social butterfly (quite the opposite of me) and has a profound ability to connect with every person in a room, and I’ve learned a lot from him. Observance has helped my acting as well. I’m sure many have heard the phrase “Acting is reacting”, and it couldn’t be truer. Being an avid reader, I’ve also found, has shaped my own voice when it comes to writing. I think I would be totally clueless if it wasn’t for my love of reading.
I know that was only two, but I believe those are my best skills.
My advice for anyone looking to improve on these qualities are to take a step back, and try to look at every situation from a distance. One of my own personal quotes and mottos for my life is ‘All problems are solvable.’
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I feel overwhelmed, I decide the tasks at hand. For example if I was feeling overwhelmed by cleaning my house, I would divide it into small sections. Bathrooms first, then bedrooms, kitchen, etc.
I also really prioritize rest and self care. I will read a comfort book, rest and not let my mind wander to the stresses of everyday life.
Lastly, spending time with the people you love. Our days are numbered on this Earth, and I want to make sure I love fiercely.
