Hi Avissh , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
That has been a long Journey for me. Growing up I was very shy, introvert and low confidence. I think Partnership dancing has been the first thing that got me out of my comfort zone, made me talk with more people, made me more extrovert. Meeting so many new people everyday, talking and teaching them and sharing the experiences that we go thru in life is definitely a first step in developing the confidence.

Teaching dance is more than a profession; it’s a form of expression and connection. With each class I taught, I saw the transformation not just in my students, but in myself. The feedback, the smiles, the love they share, the breakthroughs they experienced on the dance floor reflected back on me, reinforcing that my decision to follow this unconventional path was right. It’s this continuous exchange of positive energy that builds my self-esteem every day.

After the Salsa Dance LA company, I started events company called Secret Fun Experiences which opened the doors to interacting with many more people than just dancers.

And now what keeps me confident is the fact to embrace the truth. No matter what i go thru in my life, I always stick with the truth because thats all there is. If you are not embracing the truth of your life than you are not living a real life. I go thru so many things, ups and downs, success and failures (a lot more failures than you would think) but accepting the truth and moving toward your goal, will keep you confident i believe,

As the creative force behind Salsa Dance LA and Secret Fun Experiences, my professional journey weaves through the vibrant rhythms of Latin dance and the eclectic energy of Los Angeles’ hidden wonders. At Salsa Dance LA, our focus goes beyond teaching salsa and bachata steps; we nurture a community where the essence of these dances is celebrated, bringing people together in a shared and loving experience of joy and connection. Our classes are tailored to embrace every dancer, from beginners to seasoned enthusiasts, creating a space where the rhythm of the music and the heart meet.

Simultaneously, with Secret Fun Experiences, we delve into the soul of LA, offering unique adventures that range from enchanting speakeasy tours to thrilling salsa nights under the city lights. These experiences are not just events; they’re a gateway to the city’s diverse culture and history, an opportunity to connect with others in settings that are both exciting and intimate. Whether it’s dancing the night away or discovering LA’s best-kept secrets, the focus is always on creating moments that resonate long after the music ends. Both Salsa Dance LA and Secret Fun Experiences represent my passion for bringing people together, fostering environments where love, laughter, learning, and memories are at the forefront. In a world increasingly dominated by digital interactions, these ventures stand as a testament to the power of personal connection and the magic that happens when we step out of our comfort zones and into the rhythm of life.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey leading Salsa Dance LA and Secret Fun Experiences, I’ve identified three key qualities that have profoundly shaped my path:

Deep Passion for Dance and Human Connections: This passion has been the cornerstone of my career. It’s the joy and satisfaction I derive from seeing people connect through dance that fuels my drive. For those starting, find what truly moves you. Your passion is your greatest motivator.

Entrepreneurial Spirit and Business Skills: Transitioning from a technical and business background to the world of dance, I’ve learned the importance of having a keen understanding of business operations, from marketing strategies to financial management. For budding entrepreneurs, it’s crucial to embrace the business side of your passion. Seek out courses, mentors, or workshops that can enhance your business acumen. Remember, a great idea coupled with strong business sense is what turns dreams into successful realities.

Adaptability in the Face of Challenges: The journey of an entrepreneur is never linear. It’s filled with unexpected turns and obstacles. Learning to adapt to these changes and not losing sight of my goals has been a key to my resilience. To those embarking on their path, remember that challenges are part of the journey. They are not just hurdles but opportunities for growth and learning. Cultivate a mindset that welcomes challenges and learn to pivot your strategies when needed. Resilience is built through overcoming difficulties, and it’s this quality that will help you navigate the complex landscape of entrepreneurship.
