Meet Ayah Abulhasan

We recently connected with Ayah Abulhasan and have shared our conversation below.

Ayah, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I’ve always been passionate about the arts and knew I wanted a career that allowed me to express my creativity. Growing up, I spent a lot of time in the kitchen with my mom, making pastries and desserts—it was something that brought me both peace and joy. That love for baking eventually led me to pursue Advanced Pastry Arts and Business in college at just 17.

While in school, I worked at Disneyland to support myself and cover my expenses. Then, on February 1, 2021, I officially launched Desserts ‘n Stuff. It was during COVID, and like many others, I found myself with extra time. Instead of letting it go to waste, I used it as an opportunity to refine my skills and turn my passion into something real.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My name is Ayah, and I’m a 25-year-old Pastry Chef and Cake Artist with a background in fine dining. Through my experience in the industry, I’ve developed a deep passion for precision, artistry, and craftsmanship—qualities that are reflected in every aspect of my work. From the cake itself to the clear acrylic cake board, the sleek clear packaging, and the satin bow that ties it all together, every detail is intentional and carefully considered.

Now that I’ve taken my business full-time, I have ambitious plans to expand in the coming years. My brand, Desserts ‘n Stuff, is built on delivering the highest quality in both taste and presentation. Every cake and filling is made entirely from scratch using my own perfected recipes. And as someone with Lebanese roots, I’ve crafted my flavors to be beautifully balanced—never overly sweet, but just right.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

One of my biggest values in business is kindness in customer service. It’s important to maintain professionalism while always treating people with warmth and respect. Staying true to yourself, holding integrity, and showing kindness to everyone you encounter will always come back to you in unexpected blessings.

Surprisingly, failure has been one of my greatest teachers. It pushed me to recognize what wasn’t working, adapt, and find solutions to achieve the results I wanted. Every challenge became an opportunity for growth.

And of course, social media—it’s the most powerful tool of our generation. When used strategically, it has the ability to take your business to the next level.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

My parents are the foundation of my success. We’re not wealthy, but what they’ve given me is far more valuable—wisdom, support, and an unshakable belief in me.

My dad, a business owner himself, has always encouraged me to start young. He’s been my mentor, offering advice and, of course, always volunteering to taste-test my desserts with honest feedback. My mom is my biggest blessing. She sees me spending 12–15 hours in the kitchen and never hesitates to step in and help. When I had events requiring hundreds of desserts, she was right there beside me, working until dawn to get everything done.

During the time I was juggling two jobs and managing my business, she would even bake my orders so I could focus on decorating after my shifts. Their unwavering support allowed my business to grow to the point where I could leave my other jobs and turn my passion into a full-time career. I owe so much of my success to them.
