Meet Ayanna Sanders

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ayanna Sanders a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Ayanna , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from my self-worth and knowing that I am deserving of all things good and beautiful. It comes from my optimistic spirit and divine reassurance that everything is always working out for me.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My professional background is in nonprofit youth development and leadership. I’ve dedicated my career to giving back to underserved youth and communities. As a underserve youth, I know how influential it was for me to have access to opportunities and exposure to a world greater than “my block.” This is special to me because it’s my way of paying it forward and pouring back into my community.

I am also the creator and founder of The Maze Feels. My brand provides five star premium organic loose leaf herbs and handcrafted artisan tea blends for energetic healing and well-being. Recently, Grammy award winning rapper and Producer Swizz Beats quoted my Euphoric Flows Blend as “ The best tea he had in years.” This blend is handcrafted with organic hibiscus, rose and rosemary. I like to think of myself as an altar and drinking herbs are my offering.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

My uncle once told me that you have to know who you are to know where you’re going. I didn’t know it at the time, but it was influential in my journey of self discovery. I’ve always had this deep curiosity to learn me, the shadows and mysteries of me. “Learn thy self to know thy self,” self-mastery, that takes bravery, confidence, humility and love. I believe we are always the student and the teacher.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, a transformative phenomenon. It empowered me to dismantle the victim mentality with love. It served as a spiritual guide that offered a code of conduct for achieving personal freedom and happiness. Don Miguel, if you happen to read this, I want you to know you did that!
