We recently connected with Ayline Artin and have shared our conversation below.
Ayline , we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
Although most would think of it as taking care of our physical health through exercise, diet, and personal hygiene, self-care is really about taking care of our “mind”. FortunateIy, nowadays people are understanding that better and work toward the improvement of their self-care For many years, I got it wrong. Caring too much about what others thought of me. My appearance, my talent, putting most of my efforts on being a “people pleaser rather than a “me” pleaser. Happily, self-care has become my #1 priority. Some may call it selfish. Where those who really “get it” call is self-love. My self-care starts as soon as I open my eyes in the mornings, by thanking the Universe, Source, Spirit, God, for yet another effortless night of rest, waking up to a healthy and happy body. My day starts with gratitude and ends with gratitude. Are there times when I have my low energy, low vibrational days, where I let the best of my emotions get to me, and “mess up” and make mountains out of mole hills? Of course I do! But my habit of having an attitude of gratitude goes without say, that this persistency get’s you moving in the right daily direction, which feels really good. The simplicity of just getting yourself to “feel” happy now is the key to all things desired. So simple, and yet to complicated. Self care and self love are the fuels and to the path of joy. There is always room for growth, as we are always learning from our mistakes in order to become better human beings. We need contrast to know what the difference between the two are. It is our gauge to know what we really want. It only makes sense to know what we want we have to also know what we don’t want. That’s is what contrast teachers us. Don’t get me wrong. It takes practice to stay in that mind set. And so, the effectiveness of self-care is monumental When we take care of ourselves and our own needs, we are happier people. Happier people are more loving. Loving people are kinder. Kinder people are more giving and understanding, and so forth and so forth. Leading us all to more love and joy. All due to self-care. It becomes this beautiful cycle of happiness and worthiness. A pretty good win win situation. Love myself, and the pay off is that I will love everyone and everything around me unconditionally. The effectiveness is living a life full of joy, ease, inner peace, unlimited opportunities, satisfaction, love, security, which essential and an abundant life.
If it makes me happy, then I am on the right path. I am lucky that I am in tune with the meaning of self-love. You can’t love others if you don’t love yourself first because there won’t be much love to give.
Self-care’s effectiveness spreads love for yourself and others, giving you a life filled with joy. “Oh, but I don’t want that”, said no one ever.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As a singer/songwriter/musician I have a lot inside me to express and give. For those who’ve experienced the art of performing understand that it feeds the soul. We connect because it is undeniably who we are and our inner being knows it. That is why the feeling is so powerful. Because it’s where we belong and we know it. And so when we are not “in it” it feels different. I don’t want to say that it feels “wrong” because like I said, we need contrast to remind ourselves who we really are. I also teach Vocal Lessons for teens and adults. Lessons range from in person, to zoom lessons across the country, and even on other continents, working with a student in Japan. It is quite rewarding and a humbling experience. I feel fortunate and grateful to be able impact so many lives through the creation and teaching of music. www.vocallifelessons.com
In addition to my personal music and vocal lessons, I also teach special education / adapted physical education for children with orthopedic and / or cognitive impairments. Many have autism who have challenges communicating their needs. Music is such a universal language that I naturally implement it in all my lessons. My #1 goal with my students is for them to be happy and feel the love and safety that I provide.
This past year, I had taken a year off of teaching to pursue my music and the release of my latest album “Heaven In Hell”.
However, I was so caught up on the “destination” of my music, that I forgot how to live and love the whole process of creating the music. This year, I decided to go back to teaching special education, with the new mindset of just loving where I am at in life and to just “be still and know”. Today I continue to be blessed with more opportunities to perform live all over LA, the South Bay, as well as landing a residency twice a week at Primo Italia Restaurant in Palos Verdes, also performing at various private and growing number of events.
This past year has taught me that “surrendering” our dreams and aspirations, doesn’t mean giving them up. Instead, it means, “letting go” of the the resistance that we hold in them, and “letting in” what has always been there, which is Joy! Perception is so powerful. Change your inside. Change your outside. Yes. It is that simple. Things which I had forgotten I even wanted start showing up in my life because of this one alignment. Let go of the resistance. It slows down everything.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The most important skill for me would have to be the skill of understanding. The way we strengthen our understanding is by practicing the simple things. If you can understand that all you have to do is be happy “now”, then you will understand that doing so will create a momentum of just feeling good now, only to bring more things in your life to feel good about. The simple and little things. All it takes is momentum. Think about the times we get upset and drown ourselves in frustration and anger. Pretty crappy feeling right? Molehills turning into mountains because we were speeding up the momentum of the yucky feelings. So then, that must hold true to it’s polar opposite. Start your day with a good feeling thought to build your momentum and let go of anything that doesn’t feel good. And I mean anything! That is a skill I wish I understood early on in life. It’s not easy. I acknowledge that fully. But starting your day with appreciation will put you in the right momentum which will naturally help you create and become who you are destined to be. Great!
This honestly would be my best and only advice. Understanding the importance of happiness now and applying the little things to be happy about now, is the foundation to it all,
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
As far as success goes, this last year alone has really refined success for me. Although I’ve always known this, 100% success is based on ones happiness. There are so many things in life to be grateful for the second we wake up. For example, being able to effortlessly breathe through the night independently. Waking up and having another chance at living life while I am alive. I used to think that “things” “events” “people” are what I needed to look for to bring me happiness. The truth is that happiness is always inside me/us. Finding it is what is overlooked and challenge daily. But once you find a little bit each day, and get really good at getting really good at finding and appreciating the little things in life that make you feel joy, a momentum builds up inside of you and you begin appreciate where you are now. And that feels really good. However, it’s not easy. But it gets easier when you practice and find something NOW to be happy about. Get that snowball rolling. No matter what your current condition is. It truly is empowering to be able to take your mind to a place of “dreaming” while awake. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and I 100% encourage it to be done daily as much as you can. Yes. Daydream a lot! Why? Because is feels good. And feeling good is what matters in life. Someone who knows how to master the skill of feeling good through imagination, no matter what their current condition is, surely can “feel” happy about something. When asked by his teacher what he wants to be when he grows up, John Lennon said, “to be happy”. Isn’t that the truth!?
That is success.
