We were lucky to catch up with Bailey Hope recently and have shared our conversation below.
Bailey, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I developed my confidence slowly over time through hard work and dedication to becoming the person I wanted to be. It wasn’t always easy—mental toughness was key, especially when people I looked up to tried to bring me down, but I came out resilient.
Starting something new can be tough and jarring. It’s hard to find your footing at first. You have to adopt a mindset of “I’m not done until I win,” which is one of my favorite quotes. There will be moments when you question if you’re on the right path and if you’re doing the right things. You’ll have days where it feels like there’s no hope, and giving up seems like a good option. Another amazing quote I’ve stumbled on “If you are afraid of the cost of going all in on you and your dreams, I can’t wait for you to see the tab for staying exactly where you are at.” When you want to give up, or your confidence is low, remember the dream.
That’s when you need to lean into your support system and dig deep into your mental strength. Being bad at something for a long time teaches you a lot. Learning something new is hard. I cringe when I look at my old dog grooming photos from when I first started or at my earlier non-grooming business models. But to get good at something, you have to keep at it. Over time, that hustle turns into skill. Turns into knowledge and Confidence.
Be patient with yourself, and desire your goals as much as you need to breathe. The human will is truly incredible.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hi, I’m Bailey, the owner and operator of PicturePawfect in Mansfield, TX!
My passion for luxury grooming services for all furry friends began in 2019 when I first learned to groom my rough collie at home. It wasn’t pretty, but it was exciting! That experience led me to pursue professional training at PetSmart, where I earned my grooming certificate. After working at a few different salons, I eventually returned to PetSmart in Texas. It was there that PicturePawfect Mobile Grooming was born.
The artistry of grooming and my love for pups drew me in, and I wanted to create a space where I could truly be myself, one that allowed each pup to be their authentic self too. I started PicturePawfect with the goal of offering a calm, one-on-one spa experience for each pup, where they could feel relaxed and pampered.
I’m a driven individual, and I’m incredibly excited to see my business grow. I’m always striving to learn and improve in this ever-evolving field. I love receiving certifications and discovering new techniques—after all, you can never have too much knowledge or skill!
We’re also passionate about supporting other groomers. We offer a free workbook on our Beacons, which anyone can use to help start their own grooming business. Additionally, we host a nail clinic every Saturday at Oliver Park.
PicturePawfect is dedicated to advancing our education and providing spa days for pups in Midlothian, Venus, Mansfield, Grand Prairie, and South Arlington.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three most important qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that have had the biggest impact on my journey would definitely be:
1. Resilience (Mental Toughness) – This was key in helping me push through tough times when things weren’t easy.
2. A Strong “Why”– Having a clear purpose kept me focused and motivated, always steering me toward my goals.
3. The Basics of Pet Safety – A solid foundation in safety gave me the confidence and knowledge to handle pets properly in my field.
Together, these three elements have been essential in getting me to where I am today, helping me navigate challenges and build the confidence to succeed.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
The people in my life who has been the most helpful in the entire journey has been my family. My parents and my sisters. They have been so comforting and helpful when it felt like i had no hope left in this industry. They have been supportive in my education and business adventures. As well as loving through it all and continue to be. I am forever grateful for them.
