Meet Bari-Lynn Friedlander

We were lucky to catch up with Bari-Lynn Friedlander recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Bari-Lynn, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience can of course come from many from many contributing factors. For me, personally, I feel that my past experiences have all contributed to the resilient woman I now am today. I had been through a lot growing up and I strongly believe that by keeping a positive, go-getter mindset of never giving up, focusing on the future, and maintaining optimism despite it all has truly helped me to get through some of the darkest times. A quote I love to live by is “One at A Time” and is truly a reminder that all we have is this one very day right now. Who knows what tomorrow could bring? I have also had to treat myself with a lot of self love and compassion and continue to remind myself of my greater purpose in life, all which has definitely contributed to my resilience. Without a sense of purpose I wouldn’t have been able to direct myself out of such difficult times. Through my art, I was reminded that there is a larger purpose for me here. Lastly, I would say expressing gratitude and being reminded of the wonderful blessings I have ahead of me have kept me strong, resilient, and with my eye on the prize.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am an abstract artist whose mission is to spread love, light, and unity with all my work. I want my viewers, clients, or whoever else might come across my work to be reminded that they are never alone. We are all in this together and the light is truly never gone… sometimes you just have to search a little bit longer for it.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My creativity, practicing mindfulness, and breath work

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most significant influence my parents had on me was, regrettably, exposing me to pain, loss, and imperfection. Despite the pain of my parents’ divorce, it ultimately propelled me into the realm of art, becoming my refuge and guiding force. I appreciate the adversity I faced because, without it, I might not have invested myself so deeply in my artistic endeavors, potentially depriving myself of the authentic life I now lead, entirely immersed in my craft.
