Meet Bartola Anderson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bartola Anderson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bartola below.

Hi Bartola, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
In my journey, inspired by the biblical call to love my neighbor as myself (Matthew 22:39), I’ve centered my actions around generosity as a reflection of my faith. Acts of kindness, big and small, have become a natural expression of my commitment to living out biblical values. This generosity has created a ripple effect, transforming my community into an illustration of unity and love.
In embracing this path, I’ve discovered a divine reward—a harvest of peace that surpasses understanding. As I sow seeds of generosity, the promise from the Bible comes to life, and I find myself rewarded with a profound sense of tranquility.
My life has become a testament to the beauty of aligning actions with a biblical perspective centered on generosity. This legacy of faith, love, and enduring peace reflects the promise that those who give generously shall receive abundantly.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I bring five years of experience as an educator in the school system, along with two decades in the human services field. Additionally, I’ve devoted nearly a decade to leading a nonprofit specializing in residential and trauma services. In my role as the founder of Positive Transition Services, Inc., a non-profit organization, I’ve been privileged to provide a diverse range of services. Our mission is centered on not only supporting individuals but also fostering collaborations with esteemed partners. Throughout the years, we’ve cultivated strong relationships with the judicial system, hospitals, and various non-profit organizations. These entities are more than clients; they are invaluable partners who have supported and believed in our mission, contributing significantly to our positive impact on the community.

Our services allow individuals and families to enhance their success in the community. Through various supportive programs, including employment placement, job readiness training, addiction recovery assistance, life skills classes, and case management services, I aim to make a meaningful impact on individuals’ lives. Additionally, our health and wellness services, such as Individual/Group Therapy, Health Screenings, Quick Online Check-Ins, Physical Exams, Case Management, and access to Community Resources, contribute to their holistic well-being.

Recently, Positive Transition Services Inc. hosted the Elevate Extravaganza event, a heartwarming success for young adults aged 18-24 and veterans. As the driving force behind this event, my commitment is to empower individuals to discover new possibilities, fostering enhanced knowledge and renewed purpose on their journey toward career advancement and fulfilling life ambitions. The positive atmosphere created during the event lingered long after its conclusion, leaving everyone fulfilled by elevating themselves into something more profound.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I’ve navigated my professional journey with a deep sense of commitment. Knowing one’s purpose is like having a guiding star that illuminates the path, allowing me to make decisions that align with my mission.

Staying true to the mission has been my cornerstone. Whether as an educator, leader of a nonprofit, or in various roles within the human services field, I’ve consistently anchored myself to the overarching mission. This steadfast dedication ensures that every action and decision serves a greater purpose.

Selflessness and humility are not just principles to me; they are a way of life. Embracing selflessness allows me to focus on the needs of others, ensuring that my efforts contribute to collective well-being. Being humble reminds me that every individual’s journey is significant, and there’s always room for growth and learning.

In essence, my professional narrative revolves around understanding my purpose, staying devoted to the mission, and embodying selflessness and humility in every endeavor. These principles have not only shaped my professional identity but have also contributed to a fulfilling and purpose-driven life.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The Bible has played a pivotal role in my development, serving as a source of timeless wisdom and guidance. One of the most impactful nuggets of wisdom I’ve embraced is the commandment to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39). This principle has become a cornerstone in how I approach life, shaping my interactions and relationships.

Applying the teachings of the Bible in a practical manner has been transformative. It has instilled a sense of compassion, empathy, and kindness in my daily actions. The emphasis on love and treating others with respect has become a guiding principle in both personal and professional aspects of my life.

Additionally, the Bible has taught me the value of forgiveness, humility, and the importance of seeking wisdom. These virtues, when actively applied, contribute to personal growth, positive relationships, and a more meaningful existence.

In summary, the Bible’s teachings have deeply influenced my values, emphasizing love, compassion, forgiveness, and humility. It serves as a practical guide that shapes how I treat others and underscores the intrinsic value of these virtues in my life.
