Meet Bassam AL NAHARI

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bassam AL NAHARI a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Bassam , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience is a powerful word that brings to mind ideas of strength, persistence, and determination to reach our goals. To me, resilience means standing firm and fighting through challenges with unwavering belief to achieve what we aim for. It’s also about having the patience to endure hardships to reach what we love. From my experiences in life, I have discovered that the main source of resilience is believing in your dreams and goals. This belief gives you a significant and essential motivation that drives you to resist and withstand all the challenges and problems you might face.
While dreams and goals are important factors in standing up to a challenge, they are not enough on their own. This is where the support of family and friends becomes essential. Their encouragement and backing help you face these challenges.
As you move forward in life, your experiences and the obstacles you overcome build up, giving you a sharper vision. This accumulated wisdom helps you confidently face various challenges with faith in yourself, guiding you towards achieving your goals and reaching your destination.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am an innovator, entrepreneur, and Ph.D. student specializing in 3D and 4D printing technologies. My journey into this field began with a deep-seated curiosity and passion for engineering, which has driven me to explore the limitless possibilities of technology and innovation. Professionally, my focus is on developing groundbreaking solutions that enhance safety and sustainability. One of my proudest achievements is the invention of COPG (Capteur Opérationnel Programmable du Gaz), an intelligent electronic device designed for early detection and automatic response to gas leaks. This invention, which is now patented, addresses a critical safety issue and demonstrates my commitment to creating practical, impactful technologies.
What excites me most about my work is the potential to make a real difference in people’s lives. The field of 3D and 4D printing is incredibly dynamic and full of possibilities. It allows me to turn imaginative concepts into tangible realities, pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Whether it’s creating custom medical devices, sustainable building materials, or innovative consumer products, the potential applications are vast and varied.
I also place a strong emphasis on sustainability and social responsibility. I prioritize using biodegradable materials in my projects, aligning my work with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. This commitment to the environment and society sets me apart and reflects my dedication to making a positive impact beyond just technological advancements.
Currently, I am excited to share that we are expanding our services at 3D Gadgets. We are launching new 3D printing products tailored to various industries, education, and consumer goods. Additionally, we are organizing workshops and seminars to educate and inspire the next generation of innovators and creators.
I want our readers to know that my journey is not just about technology and inventions. It’s about resilience, continuous learning, and a steadfast dedication to creating a better, more sustainable future. Through my work, I aim to inspire others to dream big, overcome challenges, and make a positive impact on the world around them.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my journey, three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge have been most impactful: resilience, technical expertise, and a commitment to continuous learning. Resilience has been crucial in overcoming the many challenges and setbacks that come with innovation and entrepreneurship. It’s about having the perseverance to push through obstacles and stay focused on your goals, even when things get tough. My technical skills in 3D printing and embedded systems have also been fundamental to my success. Having a strong foundation in the technical aspects of my field has allowed me to innovate and create impactful solutions. Additionally, staying updated with the latest trends, tools, and techniques has been essential in maintaining a competitive edge and driving my projects forward. For those starting their journey, here is how you can best develop or improve these qualities and skills: Develop a mindset that views challenges as opportunities for growth and surround yourself with a supportive network of family and friends. Invest time in gaining a deep understanding of the technical skills relevant to your field through formal education, online courses, and hands-on projects. Try to develop a habit of lifelong learning by reading extensively, attending seminars and workshops, and seeking out mentors who can provide guidance and insights. By focusing on building resilience, gaining technical expertise, and committing to continuous learning, you will not only overcome obstacles but also create meaningful and impactful work.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
In the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has been in the 3D printing field. Firstly, I conducted a comprehensive training session on 3D design and printing at the City of Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITT) at Hassan II University in Casablanca. This event enhanced my ability to communicate complex concepts and reinforced my technical knowledge.
In June 2024, I participated in the 8th edition of Casablanca Smart City, presenting my project, 3D Gadgets. This experience enriched my professional network and provided valuable insights to improve my project.
Additionally, I was part of the 4th Moroccan Workshop on 3D Printing (MW3DP’24) with my doctoral supervisors, Dr. Zitouni Beidouri and Dr. Khalid Zarbane, further expanding my understanding of the latest trends in additive manufacturing.
These events have significantly improved my technical skills and leadership abilities, reinforcing my dedication to my business, 3D Gadgets, and my commitment to innovation and sustainability in the 3D printing industry.
