Meet Batya Friedman

We were lucky to catch up with Batya Friedman recently and have shared our conversation below.

Batya , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I’ve always been driven by a strong work ethic and desire to succeed. I began my career in advertising during the peak of the 2009 recession and worked for what now seems like pennies. However, I believed if I worked hard, put in my time and proved my worth I would eventually move up.
I was lucky enough to land at a few different organizations where I found incredible mentors who took an interest in me and my future. I really enjoyed what my job and the work I did. I had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients and industries and every day was exciting (sometimes grueling) as deadlines are almost synonymous with advertising/marketing.
I was promoted several times and eventually became a VP at an incredible Advertising/Marketing agency in Dallas (The Infinite Agency). There, I worked for Jonathan Ogle, an incredible leader, entrepreneur, marketer and friend. He often times noted that there were no glass ceilings for me at The Infinite Agency, and he allowed me the opportunity to spread my wings, fly and lead a wonderful team.
At this same time, I chose to start my family. For a few years, I tried to do it all – Be a great mom to my two young boys, lead a team of brand managers, and navigate how the agency would evolve as we entered the Covid era and then fully transitioned to a work from home shop. Given my perfectionist personality, I went hard on all fronts and eventually it caught up with me. While I still loved my career and the amazing team that surrounded me, I knew deep down in the coming years I needed to find more balance in my life to be my best self.
Ironically, a great friend of mine, had decided to start his own real estate brokerage and asked for help with branding and marketing. One thing lead to another and he offered me the opportunity to come help him start a new company with him. I felt like this was a gift from above. A position that offered me way more flexibility, a chance to continue to lead, and a position that would surely push me (being in new industry, startup, etc.).

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Together, Chad and I began Stoic Real Estate Partners in September of 2022. Chad wanted to create an organization in which he could really help others succeed. After studying Stoicism and implementing the principals in his own life he had a vision of creating an Commercial Real Estate Brokerage that operated in that manner. After spending much time envisioning and planning for the organization we wanted to build we began to build our team.

We are laser focused on culture, pushing each other, being disciplined so that we have ultimate freedom and balance.

While I earned my real estate license in order to best serve my team, I spend my days running the operations (finance, marketing, property management, culture, etc.)

Stoic Real Estate Partners is such a unique and wonderful place to work. We have established several unique practices that align all of our interests and give us the motivation to be great at what we do to best serve our clients, family and community.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1) Grit
2) Find fulfillment in serving others
3) Incredible mentorship

Find a way to continue to work hard each day and be an asset to the team. If you do this day after day, success/results will follow.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

The Daily Stoic

– We can only control our own thoughts, actions and reactions.
– By changing our perceptions, we can change our emotions
– Life is finite
– Embrace challenge
