We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Becca Brazil a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Becca, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
As a performer, being on stage and seeing people smile, laugh, and connect with my music fuels my passion. But even in those moments, self-doubt can creep in. To combat imposter syndrome, I focus on working on myself daily. That means being intentional about my mental and physical health, having a solid routine, and finishing what I commit to before jumping to the next thing. When you leave things unfinished, it creates “holes,” and those unresolved commitments can weigh you down. Closing those loops while continuing to move forward helps build confidence and clarity. Building Only 1 Media PR taught me that consistency and clarity are powerful tools.
Overcoming imposter syndrome has been a journey for me. It’s so easy to feel like an imposter in any part of your life—whether in your career, relationships, or personal goals. I’ve realized that confidence is key. You have to believe in yourself even when you’re the only one who sees the vision. Sometimes people won’t understand your dreams or might think they’re impossible, and that can make you question yourself. But here’s the truth: self-belief is your superpower.
As someone who works with some of the top people in Hollywood, I’ve also learned that no one has it all figured out. Even the most successful people started somewhere, faced doubts, and grew by building strong habits and pushing through the hard moments. I remind myself: if someone else can achieve greatness, why can’t I? The key is to silence the negative thoughts and replace them with action.
Helping others has also been huge for me. Supporting other people’s dreams and watching them succeed has a way of reinforcing your own value and purpose. It’s a reminder that we’re all in this together and that our impact goes far beyond what we see. Imposter syndrome thrives on doubt, but when you take care of yourself, set routines, and focus on your goals step by step, it becomes easier to push past it. Clarity is also crucial—when your mind is fogged, it’s hard to see the end goal. That’s why having a clear vision of what you want and a plan to get there is so important.
Ultimately, I tell myself this: if I believe I’m great, others will too. You have to carry yourself with that energy, and over time, the imposter syndrome fades away. It’s all about owning your path, trusting the process, and giving yourself permission to shine.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My journey has been a whirlwind of creativity, connection, and entrepreneurship. I’m a singer, DJ, actress, and founder of Only 1 Media PR, a boutique public relations agency. Whether I’m on stage performing or working behind the scenes to elevate my clients’ brands, I’m passionate about creating moments that inspire, uplift, and bring people together.
Recently, I had the honor of DJing the Maxim New Year’s Eve event, which was such an incredible way to kick off the year! I also attended the Golden Globes, which is always an inspiring reminder of the magic of storytelling and creativity. Additionally, I’m thrilled to be working as an entertainment partner with AMG alongside NBA legend Metta World Peace, focusing on exciting collaborations and initiatives that bridge entertainment, sports, and culture.
As a performer, I thrive on connecting with audiences. There’s nothing more fulfilling than stepping on stage, feeling the energy of the crowd, and knowing that my music has the power to make people smile, laugh, or dance. Music has been my way of expressing myself and building meaningful connections, and I’m always looking for ways to evolve as an artist.
With Only 1 Media PR, I’ve built a platform where I can empower others. We specialize in helping talent and brands shine in the spotlight, from red carpet events to media campaigns. Working with some of the top figures in Hollywood has shown me that everyone has a unique story, and my job is to help amplify it.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding my PR agency while continuing to grow my TV & music career. Beyond my professional endeavors, I’m deeply passionate about giving back. I believe helping others is a way of helping yourself, and I strive to create a ripple effect of positivity in everything I do.
For me, the most special part of my work is the opportunity to connect—with audiences, clients, and communities around the world. Whether through a song, a DJ set, or a PR campaign, I’m all about making an impact, sparking joy, and inspiring others to chase their dreams unapologetically.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, I’d say three qualities have been absolutely pivotal in my journey: resilience, adaptability, and the ability to connect authentically with others.
1. Resilience
The entertainment and business industries can be full of challenges, setbacks, and moments of doubt. Resilience has been my superpower—pushing through tough times and learning to embrace failure as a stepping stone. For anyone early in their journey, I’d say: Don’t let the “no’s” discourage you. Instead, let them fuel your drive. Stay focused on your goals, and remind yourself why you started. Building a strong mindset through daily practices like journaling, affirmations, or meditation can make a huge difference.
2. Adaptability
The world is constantly changing, especially in creative industries. Being able to pivot when needed, embrace new trends, and evolve has been a game-changer for me. For example, expanding from singing into DJing and launching Only 1 Media PR were natural progressions that allowed me to explore different facets of my creativity. My advice? Stay curious and open to learning new skills. Read, network, and immerse yourself in areas outside your comfort zone—you never know what might spark your next big move.
3. Authentic Connections
Building genuine relationships has been essential, both in my personal life and career. Whether it’s connecting with fans through my music or fostering strong partnerships in my PR agency, authenticity always stands out. For those just starting, I recommend: Be kind, listen more than you speak, and always look for ways to add value to others’ lives. People remember how you make them feel, so focus on cultivating real relationships over transactional ones.
Advice for developing these qualities:
• Resilience: Set small, achievable goals to build confidence and momentum. Celebrate your wins, no matter how small, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when needed.
• Adaptability: Stay informed about industry trends and technologies, and be willing to experiment. You don’t have to master everything at once—just take one step at a time.
• Authentic Connections: Be yourself. Whether you’re networking, collaborating, or sharing your story, let your true personality shine.
Remember, success isn’t a straight line—it’s a journey of growth, discovery, and learning. Embrace the process, and never stop believing in your potential!
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m always looking for people to collaborate with! I’m especially interested in working with more publicists, journalists, talent, and brands that are looking to organize events, as well as producers—particularly because we are aiming to host more red carpet movie premieres this year. Beyond that, I’m passionate about connecting with people who enjoy bouncing ideas off one another and growing together creatively and professionally.
