Meet Becca Elder

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Becca Elder. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Becca , thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
It hasn’t always been easy. Sometimes just seeing things people say hurt. Why do people have to degrade you for trying to doing something you genuinely enjoy? You are trying to do something you love and people feel the need to harshly judge you for being unconventional. It can make it extremely difficult to want to continue. You have to consistently remind yourself why you are doing it to begin with and it is so easy to fall into a downward spiral because the truth is, words do hurt. When it comes to doing something you love, eventually you get to a point where it doesn’t matter what others say. No matter what you do people are going to talk because everyone is entitled to their own opinion. When you find your passion it drives you through all negativity. At the end of the day people can say whatever they want but they are not directly relevant to your life, so live like nobody is watching. You create your own future.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a freelance alternative model, I started my journey in January of 2018. I thrive on body positivity and women empowerment, inspiring women to feel beautiful in their skin has always been a main goal of mine. Feeling comfortable in your skin is a different kind of confidence. I specialize in boudoir and brand work. I would love to dive into more concepts such as artistic story telling and horror, I just want to do new things! I have done a few new fun things recently such as creating content for a new clothing apparel brand called Lunafide and I was featured in BareMags.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Know that not everyday is easy, you won’t always feel confident and secure. In the time of doubt you may need to remind yourself why you are doing this, what motivates you. Some days it’s hard to get inspiration, take a step back when you need to. Learn your angles and what best suits your figure, always find the light. Social media presence, find your platform and remain consistent. Networking, get yourself out there!

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
A major challenge I am currently facing is that I have multiple underlying medical issues, which is not something I openly talk about. It has been a long stressful road that seems to be endless at times, not having answers and struggling to find doctors. I do also work a full time job and I recently started a piercing apprenticeship so maintaining my health and work life balance seems to be nearly impossible. Obviously I would love to follow my passion and love for modeling but l have taken a small hiatus, doing photoshoots when I can but I have had to put modeling on the backburner at this time.
