Meet Becky Holmes

We recently connected with Becky Holmes and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Becky, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
As I reflect back on the past couple years of my life and how I can say I am currently living the life of my dreams it all really stems from self-love. Living the life of my dreams doesn’t mean I live in the biggest house, I have money just flowing out of my pockets, or the most expensive car out there. To me living the life of my dreams means I feel happy, peaceful, and am in great health. It’s all about feeling. I’ve learned through becoming a mindset and spiritual life coach that healing truly happens from doing inner work. Self-care is a form of self-love. We’ve all heard that saying…”Put your own oxygen mask on first” or “You can’t pour from an empty cup.” Well, these sayings are true. I have found that when I am at my best I can then best help serve others.

So, the big question is this…how can I feel my best everyday?
Answer: It’s about taking care of mind, body, and soul each and everyday.

Being a mom of 3 teenagers I can relate to so many with busy lifes and always worrying about everyone else. What I can tell you is this…it is possible to eliminate a lot of that worry from your life and make time to prioritize you! It is essential to your well-being and your family, friends, co-workers, and all those around you will reap the benefits as well. Y’all heard the saying “like energy attracts like energy.” Have you ever noticed when someone compliments you, your mood lifts, and you feel like complimenting them back OR when you compliment someone most likely they say something nice back to you. Yep, when you put that energy out there it returns right back to ya! What does this have to do with self-care? When you are taking care of yourself, you feel great! How do you lessen worry? You must have faith and trust in your divine life plan. Trust that it’s all going to work out.

The key is to start each and every day off with a positive attitude, before you even get out of bed. Start your day off with a YES to life and a big THANK YOU to God or whatever higher power you believe in for another day! Then it’s your job to create your happiness. Each day I choose a way to nourish my mind, my body, and my soul. All essential to great self care!

Here are a few things I do to show myself self-care:

*I have a sacred morning routine where I spend time meditating, praying, breathing exercises, reading scripture and inspirational messages, and journaling gratitude

* I do some type of exercise (I really enjoy walks outside), and throughout the day nourishing my body with plenty of water and eating balanced meals

* Every month I get a reiki energy healing and massage

* I surround myself with positive people that make me smile

* I have put up healthy boundaries where needed

* I only say yes to things I really want to do. I have let go of the people pleasing. I speak my truth and people respect that.

* Another change I’ve made to keep my vibration high is to stop watching a lot of news. So much of the news is negative these days and I choose not to listen to it. What I do is send my loving, healing prayers to the world each day for peace. If there is something really important going on in the world that I need to be made aware of I know I will end up hearing about it.

* And then enters social media. I personally only follow friends and people that I find to be uplifting and inspirational. I use social media for good. If it becomes negative, then it’s an unfollow for me. When you are constantly seeing good, happy, funny, and uplifting messages in your social feed then that is showing yourself good self-care cause you are taking care of your mind!

I suggest making a joy list of things you love to do and do something off that list each week. Self-care helps you create that self-love that we all deserve. We came from love, we all are loved, and always supported. True love starts within. If you truly love yourself then you can truly love others.

Implementing good self-care methods has changed my life for the better! I live my life with faith and trust that everything happens for my greatest good. Creating these habits has helped me be a very positive person, always trying to find the good, and when a challenge does come along I find the lesson to be learned. It’s also helped me to learn to respond to situations instead of react. Being dedicated to self-care is loving yourself so much that you know you are worthy of all great things and that is truly life changing! And if someone doesn’t like you it won’t even affect you because you hold so much love for yourself and you know how much God (your higher power) loves you that others dislike can’t even touch you.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
HI! I’m Becky! 45 years young and I can say honestly it’s really cool when you can say I found my purpose! First and foremost and my most precious purpose in my life is to be a mom to my three amazing kids. I have a very supportive and hard working husband and together we get to raise our three treasures!

I’ve had many jobs in my life from working in TV, an elementary school teacher, owning my tennis business, event planning, an author of a published children’s tennis book, plus written articles for several magazines, but there was always something missing. I had been praying for a while about what is next for me. It has to be the “perfect” job for me. Flexible hours where I can still be there for all my kids activities and something that I really love doing…not just doing something to do something. I wanted to LOVE it!

I had always dreamed of being a motivational speaker. I have big faith. I’ve always had a strong intuition. It came to me one day a couple years ago…I could be a life coach! People come to me all the time asking advice, I love helping others, and encouraging them!! I was scrolling through social media one day and I saw on Instagram that someone was a Spiritual Life Coach. What was that? I had never heard of that. I started doing some research and came across who is now my amazing Spiritual mentor and boss, Sophie Frabotta. She had a Spiritual Life Coaching certification program and I knew the minute I started reading about it that was it!! I filled out the application, talked to her on the phone, and instantly paid in full! I knew it with all my being…I found my thing!

I completed the online certification in 5 life changing months and today I am honored to be a Spiritual Life Coach and work hand in hand with Sophie and the Awaken Company as her Teachers Assistant in the Spiritual Life Coaching certification program. I get to work with so many amazing women and support them in their healing journeys to ultimately become coaches themselves. It’s a true blessing to work with Sophie. She is known worldwide as the The Soul Whisperer!

I also own my business, Happy Healing Life Coaching. I have had the opportunity to speak at different events promoting self-love, self-care, mindfulness, and overall how to live a happy life!

It’s been a dream come true and I’m so looking forward to new doors and opportunities opening up for me through Awaken Co. and elsewhere. Anything in the spiritual, health, wellness, and sports fields excites me!

Now that I’ve learned so much and have a great spiritual toolbox that keeps growing and expanding I want to share it all to the world and help guide others so they too can learn to live their best life! That’s my mission…reach as many people as I can to learn to love themselves so much that anything they put their mind to they can and will achieve in life!! It’s time to make your dreams a reality!! Dedication to one’s self is key!!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Learning how to lessen worry and fully rely on my faith and trust (Meditation…connecting to God, grounding, and opening my heart)

  1. Quieting the chatter in my mind and learning how to live life in the present moment
  2. Truly loving myself for who I am and showing myself self-care

And I have to say living my life with gratitude each and everyday! Changing the “I have to’s” to “I get to’s”

My advice for people who are lost, sad, hurt, angry, confused, any low emotion, or just wants to enhance their life in some way is to start by dedicating themselves to their healing. Saying yes to themselves. Recognize and be aware of what may be causing these feelings and feel them. It takes at least 90 seconds for an emotion to move through the body. Don’t just slap a bandaid on it and say oh it’s gonna be ok. If you do that it is just going to keep showing up. Heal it. Meditate on your feelings, journal about it, exercise it out, talk about it with someone you trust. Then get to work! This is a daily practice and something you have to really want for yourself. You just don’t go to the gym one time and expect to lose 20 pounds or have huge muscles. It takes dedication and practice. Commitment to yourself. Showing up. Your future self will thank you. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else. You have your life lessons to learn and they have theirs. You have special qualities that are unique that no one else has. Everything that is meant for you will happen for you at the perfect time. You have to trust in that. If someone hurts you, don’t feel ill will towards them…instead pray for their well-being because they are obviously hurting in some way. Don’t take it personal, they have wounds that need healing. Stay strong in who you are and never give your power away. That is your superpower! You were chosen to be here and to live out a beautiful purpose. You are the captain of your ship. You get to decide what’s best for you. It may not always be easy, but it’s always possible with the right attitude and commitment to yourself. Ride the waves of the ocean…sometimes they are rough and sometimes they are smooth, but with your skills and gifts you can conquer any wave that comes your way!

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
In closing, I want to answer this question because feeling overwhelmed is something we ALL feel at times. We are all human living this life together and we get to experience so many feelings and emotions in our lifetime. I have shared with you all how I feel I’m truly living my best life now, but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t have hardships to overcome and there were days I struggled and I know there will be days ahead that may be difficult again. But that’s the cool thing because I have survived through it and learned so much that I want to share it with others! I have this awesome spiritual toolbox now that I know I can overcome any hardship that comes my way. I have lived a very blessed life. Most days are great! However, there were times that I didn’t always handle situations in the best way, but I didn’t know any better at the time. I have learned to forgive myself and others and fully heal. Life is meant to be tough at times so we can learn lessons that we signed up to learn in this lifetime. At the same time life is full of blessings and miracles! I’ve had many more blessings than challenges, but through it all I’ve learned so much and continue to keep learning each and everyday. I am grateful for it all! So…as I was saying I want to help guide others how to live their best life and in doing so here are a few tips I’d like to share with you on how I overcome feelings of overwhelm…

Let’s take an example…if I have a really long to do list of stuff I have to get done…real life, this happens often! (Keep in mind this is just an example, you can feel overwhelm for deeper issues as well and can use a similar approach to help with this feeling)

First: I recognize the feeling of overwhelm.

I take some time to sit down and just breathe through the feeling. I make sure I feel grounded, connected, and open to receiving information through my intuition on my next step. I have actually just started doing EFT tapping also which I find very helpful.

Then: I think of the opposite feeling of overwhelm and that is the feeling I want to get to. The opposite of overwhelm to me is feeling calm.

How can I get to the feeling of calm?

Next: My intuition tells me get out a notepad and start prioritizing what needs to get done. I like to categorize into the 4 D’s:
Do it, Delay it, Delegate it, and Delete it

Map out my day! And always remembering to listen to my body. If I am tired, I will rest. When I am hungry, I will eat. And understanding that everything will get done and if something doesn’t then there is always tomorrow. It’s ok.

So the next time you are feeling overwhelmed about something, I encourage you to stay in the present moment where you are safe, sit with your feelings in a quiet space, take some deep breaths, listen to the guidance within you, take necessary action steps to get to the feeling of calm, listen to your body, and then trust it’s all going to work out. For me personally, I always call on God and my angels to help me. They are always with us, want to help, and love the invitation 🙂

Happy Healing!! xo Becky
