Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bekah Jayne. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bekah , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I think my resilience comes from a few factors. One being, reminding myself that God wouldn’t give me dreams and aspirations that I am not capable/meant to achieve. Knowing that this is my mission to complete and I am fully fit for the job helps keep me going after hearing many “no’s” or rejections from opportunities. One of my favorite quotes is, “No one can close a door that God has opened for you,” that always helps me from getting discouraged during adversity.
As well, growing up I played competitive travel softball which taught me that results take very hard work and consistency. So sometimes looking myself in the mirror and being brutally honest with myself about my efforts and where I can do better. Generally when i give myself that extra push that is when I see results or a positive achievement which gives me the drive to always keep pushing. My family also plays a great role because my parents are both the product of resilience and I definitely look up to them in that respect.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hi! My name is Bekah Jayne. I am an artist, songwriter, and entrepreneur, born and raised in South Florida but currently living in Nashville, TN. I graduated from Belmont University in May 2024 with a BS degree in songwriting, with a music minor. To be completely transparent, I am a 22-year-old girl figuring it out. Navigating being an artist and figuring out how to manage and maintain everything on your own… it’s HARD. I found my passion for music and art at a very young age. Once I discovered I could sing and tap my fingers away on a piano, creating these beautiful sounds, I never wanted to stop. My family would joke that our home was always loud because I would sing and play the piano all day until my sisters would yell at me to be quiet. I knew it was my destiny and that singing was my life at 12 years old. Music was just a part of me, and it still is. I remember feeling like nothing else in the world existed when I would sit at a piano and sing, and I still get that feeling when I perform on stage. It felt like something greater than me, like God was working through me. That feeling amplified once I found my voice and started writing my own songs. That type of expression made me feel so seen, but not only that, it made me feel like I could really impact others through the songs I write. Experiencing people saying that my song made them shed a tear or go back to a moment in time is priceless. Sharing the magic I feel within my body when I sing and extending that to other people is what drives me to want to do it more. I’ve always had that dream but to do it on a large scale and have access to a larger audience — but it hasn’t been a seamless journey.
I’ve heard a lot of “no’s” growing up for most of the opportunities I tried out for. However, I heard all of the right “yes’s” just when I needed to keep pushing. Sometimes it feels like my greatest passion and desires are working against me, and the thing I want the most seems like the hardest thing to achieve. But I know it’s my duty to never give up on myself and this dream, because to do so would be my greatest disservice. Right now, at 22, I’m figuring out each and every day how to show up and how to push a little more than the day before. I’m working on celebrating my little wins and creating habits that will set me up for success, so one day I can help other young girls who might feel like me or have big dreams but don’t even know where to begin. Beyond just helping young girls like me, I’ve always had this inkling that I want to change the world or at least make some sort of impact.
In 2023, I opened an LLC called Bekah Jayne Inc. I knew I needed to start thinking like a businesswoman. I struggle with ADHD, and it has been difficult being my own cheerleader and creating a structure for myself. I am proud of where I am, but every day is different. The story I can tell you is only one of the beginning because I know I am undergoing a lot of changes right now.
I encourage others who feel like they get in their own way or who think it’s impossible to reach their goals to not be discouraged or too hard on themselves. My mom would always tell me that “my mind is special and I was given this brain and this way of thinking so that I can create my art, so I shouldn’t be mean to it or wish it away.” I remind myself of this whenever I start saying negative things to myself about the way I’m wired. We have to learn to work in harmony with who we are and not against it. I know that it’s hard in today’s world to wish we were different and to think there’s only one correct way of getting things done, but that’s not true. We all just need to find our own recipe.
Some milestones that have fueled my fire include the production of my first EP Bekah Jayne Vol. 1 and its release in 2024, as well as winning the Hip Hop/RnB Showcase during my final semester at Belmont in March 2024. Soon after graduation, in September 2024, I put on a show to raise money for the Diabetes Research Institute, where I performed with my band at the Funky Biscuit in Boca Raton, FL. We sold out the show and raised over $7,000 for diabetes research. That was BIG. This cause is one that I want to continue to support using my voice to raise awareness for, because my oldest sister is a type 1 diabetic who currently has stage 5 kidney failure at 35 years old. This was my first businesswoman accomplishment, and it’s only the beginning of the impact I want to make.
Today, I am working on new music and a whole new brand for my artistry, as well as actively participating in the songwriting community of Nashville, diving into sync, and pitching songs to artists. The evolution of Bekah continues and I am excited to showcase that through my music coming in mid-2025. It was hard for me to write this at first because I didn’t think I had much of a story and thought how could I inspire others when I am still figuring it out. But I’ve realized that I think that’s the point… that none of us ever really have it figured out and maybe more of us need to be unashamed in saying that. Taking the time to reflect I now acknowledge what I have accomplished and I hope this inspires you to take the time to count your wins and keep pushing.
Love, Bekah.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I feel like the best way to learn is through real life experiences. I have unfortunately had some expensive lessons to learn, so if you can learn as much as you can regardless, whether thats through classes, books, podcasts, etc, that’s awesome… but most of your growth and knowledge comes from really going for it and pushing out of your comfort zone. Stop waiting for the perfect conditions to make things happen, sometimes you just have to do it and then learn, take mental notes, and do things differently next time.
This is some advice that I feel has made the biggest difference in my journey:
1. Showing up is half the battle. You will be so surprised how much can come out of showing up… and then imagine if you showed up regularly.
2. It’s no joke when they say it’s all about who you know. Network! Network! Network!
3. Be Aggressive, Be Bold. Thing aren’t going to land in your lap, you have to go after them and know you did your part in putting yourself out there and then let the rest take care of itself.
4. “Luck” is where preparation meets opportunity, so PREPARE for anything.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
My dad got me the book “Success Is A Choice” by John C. Maxwell on my 20th birthday because he said he bought that book when he was 20 and it transformed his life and was the beginning of when he started to change his life and started his own business. I bring it with me everywhere I go and always have it in my bag with a dollar bill as a bookmark. Even if I don’t read it all the time, I see it and it reminds me of who I want to be and the kind of life I want to live. This book has all the tools to success.
“If you run every step of the race well except the last one and you stop before the finish line, then the end result will be the same as if you never ran a step”(Maxwell 88)
“Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction” (Maxwell 52)
“A retentive memory may be a good thing, but the ability to forget is the true token of greatness. Successful people forget. They know the past is irrevocable. They’re running a race. They can’t afford to look behind. Their eye is on the finish line… They’re too big to let little things disturb them… Be a good forgetter. Business dictates it, and success demands it.”(Maxwell 53-54)
