Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Béla Kazimir. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Béla, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Finding my purpose has been an evolving journey for me, shaped by my experiences and passions. For over 10 years, I worked as an auto technician at Best Buy, where I developed a deep-seated passion for audio. Despite my enjoyment of the job, I always felt a yearning for something more fulfilling, though I wasn’t quite sure what that looked like at the time.
This led me to transition into a role as an avionics technician at a private jet facility. In this position, I learned a great deal about electrical wiring, schematics, troubleshooting, and building navigation solutions for clients. While I found the work intriguing, something still felt amiss. I couldn’t envision myself in this career for the long haul; I craved a deeper connection to my passion for audio.
During this period, I gradually began to reconnect with my love for audio. I started brainstorming ideas and realized that I had a wealth of skills from both my previous roles that could come together in a unique way. One day, while browsing YouTube, I stumbled upon a DIY video about making a portable Bluetooth speaker. That moment was a turning point for me—I was instantly hooked!
I built my first speaker and immediately felt the thrill of creation. I wanted to build another one, but this time, I aimed to refine both its look and sound. I discovered an immense joy in designing, researching, and constructing these products. It was in this process that I truly found my purpose—a perfect blend of my technical background and my passion for audio.
This journey has taught me that sometimes, our purpose isn’t just about our jobs; it’s about how we can merge our interests and skills to create something meaningful. I’m excited to continue exploring this path and see where it leads me next.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
In my professional journey, I’ve always been a bit of a jack-of-all-trades, talented in many areas but lacking a clear vision for my career path. Growing up, I had a deep love for audio and a passion for building and tinkering with electronics. I was constantly curious about how things worked, which led me to pursue various roles in the tech world.
My first major positions were as an auto technician and later as an avionics technician. These experiences taught me valuable skills and deepened my technical knowledge, but I realized that what I truly wanted was to create something of my own. That realization sparked the creation of Primitive Audio.
With Primitive Audio, I finally found the perfect blend of my passions for audio, electronics, and craftsmanship. I envisioned a company that would bring together high-fidelity audio and exquisite woodwork. I chose to use both exotic and domestic woods for my speaker enclosures, ensuring that every single speaker I create is unique and tells its own story.
I started with high-end portable speakers, and I’m excited to share that I’ve recently launched a new line of desktop speakers. My goal is to eventually expand into designing tower speakers, further broadening my product offerings. As a small business owner working from my garage workshop, I embrace the challenge and creativity that comes with running my own venture.
While I’m currently a one-person operation, I look forward to the possibility of expanding my business in the future. I’m genuinely excited about what lies ahead and the opportunities that await. Each day is a step closer to realizing my vision, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
In reflecting on my journey, three key skills and qualities have been particularly impactful in helping me reach where I am today.
First and foremost, persistence has been crucial. There have been countless moments when I could have easily given up on my business, especially during challenging times. However, I’ve always pushed myself to believe that quitting simply wasn’t an option. My love for what I do fueled my determination to see it through, no matter the obstacles. I’ve learned that while having a bigger picture in mind is essential, it’s equally important to set smaller, achievable goals. This approach keeps motivation alive and helps maintain focus on the journey.
The second skill I developed is the ability to conduct thorough research. When I started my business, I didn’t have much knowledge about what it takes to build a company from the ground up. However, I embraced the challenge of learning. In today’s world of information overload, my advice is to first identify the specific question you need to answer. This clarity helps you navigate through the vast amount of information available and find the exact answers you need to move forward.
Lastly, adaptability has been a vital quality throughout my entrepreneurial journey. Life will always throw unexpected challenges your way, and being able to pivot and adjust your plans is crucial. I’ve learned that flexibility allows you to find alternative paths to your goals, ensuring you can keep moving forward even when things don’t go as planned.
Together, persistence, research, and adaptability have shaped my journey and continue to guide me as I grow my business. I’m excited to see how these qualities will help me tackle future challenges and opportunities!

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I rely on a few key strategies to help me regain control and manage my stress effectively.
First, I focus on prioritizing and breaking down tasks. I start by making a list of everything I need to accomplish, ranking them from most to least important. This allows me to see what needs immediate attention and helps me tackle one thing at a time. As I complete each task, I cross it off the list, which provides a sense of accomplishment and makes the workload feel much more manageable.
Second, I believe that taking a break is always constructive. Whether it’s a quick walk outside, watching a show, or simply stepping away from my workspace for a while, taking a break helps clear my mind. For example, when I’ve been deeply engrossed in a project and things aren’t going as planned, I find that walking away for an hour allows me to return with a fresh perspective and renewed energy.
Lastly, I find it incredibly helpful to reach out for support. Sometimes, you just need to talk things through or vent your frustrations. Partnering with someone close to me, whether it’s a friend, family member, or colleague, can be a great relief. Sharing my thoughts and getting their perspective often alleviates stress and helps me find solutions I hadn’t considered.
