We were lucky to catch up with Belen Sanchez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Belen, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose within turbulence and solitude. At a very young age I had to experience situations where I found myself in a space of loneliness and abandonment. As a teenager having a lot of free time and experiencing all this hard feelings I lean myself into art. I started painting and slowly I transition to music and I found myself, my voice, my purpose and the reason why I keep following my vision within the things I want to do in the world.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a Music Business graduate from Berklee College of Music, currently working as an A&R for independent artists while also developing my career as an independent artist. Music has always been at the center of everything I do whether it’s discovering new talent, helping artists shape their creative vision, or creating and sharing my own music.
What excites me most about my work is being part of an artist’s journey from the ground up. I love helping artists find their voice and build sustainable careers, especially within the Latin music space, where I feel there’s so much talent and culture that deserves greater global visibility.
Beyond my work in A&R and my personal artistry, I’m currently working on launching my own music agency with an international focus. The goal is to create a platform dedicated to helping emerging Latin artists develop their careers, not just through talent management, but through strategic development, creative support, and market expansion. I believe that with the right guidance and resources, Latin artists can break barriers and build lasting legacies, and I want to be part of that transformation.
There’s a lot of exciting growth ahead from artist launches to the agency’s upcoming debut and I’m thrilled to be building something that will empower artists and amplify Latin voices around the world.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are persistence, confidence, and perseverance.
Persistence has kept me moving forward even when progress felt slow or obstacles seemed overwhelming. In the music industry whether you’re an artist, an A&R, or building a business doors don’t always open on the first knock. Staying persistent has allowed me to build real relationships, grow my career step-by-step, and keep sight of my long-term vision.
Confidence has been equally important. Believing in my own ideas and trusting my instincts has helped me take risks, advocate for the artists I work with, and navigate an industry that can often be intimidating. Confidence isn’t about always having the answers; it’s about trusting that you can figure it out and add value along the way.
Lastly, perseverance ties everything together. There have been plenty of setbacks, rejections, and moments of doubt, but perseverance is what makes you stay committed to your goals even when the road gets tough.
For those just starting out, my advice would be: stay consistent, trust yourself even when it feels uncomfortable, and don’t let the tough moments define your journey. Growth often happens quietly behind the scenes keep going even when no one’s clapping yet.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
I would spend that decade building a space for Latin artists where they can find all the tools they need to safely navigate within the music industry and learn how to manage and take care of their own music career. At the end of the day I would love to be remember as the Ecuadorian that open doors for many Latin artists to export their music to the world.
