Meet Bella Kelly

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bella Kelly. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bella below.

Hi Bella, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
I love going to the gym, doing yoga, mediating by praying, doing skin care and of course, writing. I believe it’s important everyone, no matter what you do, has self care days. Even if it’s as simple as reading a book, going for a walk outside, around the mall or listening to your favorite music playlist. If you go till total burn out every single day, you might not reach your full potential. It’s good and healthy to give your body and mind a reset. I find for myself I am a lot more focused and proactive when I work out and do self care days. I write every day, that is more apart of my daily routine then self care but for me writing is very relaxing and my passion so I don’t get burnt out or needing of breaks from it. One thing every one should practice is self love. Believing in yourself, loving yourself, taking care of yourself. I believe you should push yourself and work hard but also don’t be so hard on yourself if you’re doing your best. You along with everyone has off days, days where they fail, feel tired or just not in the right zone. That doesn’t make you a failture or mean your goal is impossible. An important thing to teach yourself is when you fail, instead of beating yourself up take it as a lesson. Say to yourself “What can or did I learn from this?” “What can I do next time to make this outcome better?” There is no gain in beating yourself up for something that is no longer in your control.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I started in the entertainment business at a young age, acting in several tv series and movies but my passion was always writing, music. Someone me and David both knew introduced us to each other and it took off from there. When I met David, I was very green to the music industry, and he took me under his wing. My first studio session was for a rapper David was working with at the time and I did a chorus for his song. I learned so much that day from David. Then we recorded my first song which was named “dark Barbie” after recording, a few days passed, and I showed David a song I wrote about the anxiety I was struggling with called “Throat” after hearing it he decided to scratch “dark Barbie” and go along with “Throat” as a first single. I completely trusted his judgment, so we recorded “Throat” that day and then started planning the music video for it with Vicente Cordero who is an amazing director. During the filming of throat, it was so much fun. We had Laney Chantal make the anxiety creature hand and fx makeup which she did a sick job on! A few months had past I wrote my 2nd single Heartbreak motel, then we recorded it, filmed the music video. The music video for “Heartbreak Motel” is like a mini film. It came out exactly like I wanted it to. Vicente Cordero, the director really brings all the ideas to life! Currently, I just filmed the music video for my newest song which I’m extremely excited to release, for everyone to listen and hear what everyone thinks. Which will launch my first EP.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
For number one my writing, Number two my background in acting. I’ve grown a lot in many different aspects while I’ve been working with David. I’ve learned a lot from him! Advice I have for people early in their journey… Surround yourself with people who uplift you, believe in you and have kind things to say. It’s hard to work on a goal when you are around people who are telling you how impossible it is. Be wise with the money you spend. A singing career is an investment like anything else is. Be wise with who you trust and where you put your money. Always do your research, never rely on only someone’s words. Believe in yourself, on the good days and the bad days. Don’t give up just because you stumbled. You have to have thick skin and keep going. One of my favorite qoutes “A person who is gonna do big things, can’t let small things get to them”

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My producer, David Gnozzi. He also is my fiance. As I said before, I was very green to the music industry when I first met David, so he took me under his wing. David is so inspiring to me. He’s hard working, very smart and strong. He shares a lot of his wisdom with me and has taught me so much. I have grown so much thanks to him. He has a long background in music and the music industry so I fully trust him and his judgement. He truly is an amazing producer. I feel blessed to have such a great producer to be by my side and help me through my journey in my music career.
