Meet Belle

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Belle. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Belle below.

Hi Belle , so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?

Being the only person in the room who looks like you can indeed serve as a powerful advantage. Growing up, I faced many insecurities about my appearance, often finding myself larger than my peers. However, as I transitioned into adulthood and traveled the world as a singer, I discovered the transformative power of confidence combined with undeniable talent.

When I entered situations with self-assuredness, persistence, and a commitment to professionalism, I noticed that people’s focus shifted away from my looks. As a plus-size woman, I make it a point to present myself well. This doesn’t mean neglecting physical health—I prioritize fitness to maintain the stamina required for singing and performing.

To truly be effective and successful, it’s crucial to hone your craft. Master your skills and let your talent shine. Always remain personable, professional, and persistent. This approach not only helps you thrive but also ensures that you make a lasting impact, irrespective of appearances.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Hello! I’m Belle, a recording artist, singer-songwriter, and actress, and I’m thrilled to share my journey with you. Imagine a world where every day is fueled by creativity and passion—that’s the world I live in!

Currently, I’m immersing myself in the vibrant scene of house music, collaborating with top house labels for my latest releases. In addition to music, I’m stretching my creative wings by writing songs for TV and film projects. My days are filled with auditions for commercials and movies, each opportunity sparking a new adventure.

Let me rewind a bit: my roots in music run deep. I’ve had the incredible fortune to be a background vocalist for legendary artists like Eric Bennet, Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus, Lauryn Hill, and Jennifer Lopez. I even shared the stage with Kanye West and the Sunday Service Choir. But in 2001, I decided to shift my focus to my own artistry.

After 20 years of traveling the globe, I realized it was time to make my name a household one—not just ride on the coattails of the icons I once supported. Now, my mission is not only to lift my own career but also to empower and inspire others along the way.

As a creatively driven individual, I find it hard to confine myself to one box. While I deeply cherish my musical endeavors, I also indulge my love for beauty and fashion on my social media platforms. I wouldn’t label myself an influencer; I’m a woman passionate about music and all things feminine.

Looking ahead, I’m excited about upcoming television opportunities, more music releases in the dance-electronic genre, and another creative project—a book that’s in the works.

What’s most thrilling about my career is the freedom to travel the world and do what I love. From appearing on television to performing at prestigious platforms like the Grammys and the American Music Awards, this year has been particularly special as I was nominated for a Grammy as a songwriter.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are:

1. **Being a Good Person**: It’s essential to be someone people enjoy being around, regardless of the industry. Positive relationships will always open doors and help you grow.

2. **Adaptability and Quick Learning**: My ability to quickly absorb and adapt, especially in learning songs and mimicking voices, has been crucial. It allowed me to thrive in dynamic environments and seize opportunities without missing a beat.

3. **Versatility in Music**: Exploring various music genres and understanding the power of my voice was vital. It’s important to convey different stories and emotions through diverse sounds.

**Advice for Beginners**:

– **Be Authentic**: Stay true to yourself. Avoid being an opportunist; genuine relationships matter.

– **Explore and Learn**: Don’t limit yourself to one music genre. Use your voice to its full potential, and don’t hesitate to experiment. Also, learn to read music early on—it’s a skill I regret not acquiring sooner.

– **Balance Support and Spotlight**: Know when to support others, yet also recognize when it’s your moment to shine. Balance is key in standing out and contributing positively.

Lastly, approach every aspect of your journey with genuine interest and sincerity. Stay open to learning and enjoy the path you’re on!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Absolutely, I’m definitely open to collaboration and eager to connect with other artists! Given my roots in R&B and gospel, combined with my current focus on the house and electronic dance genre, I’m seeking partnerships with:

1. **Songwriters**: Those who have a knack for penning soulful, heartfelt lyrics that align with the energy of house music.

2. **Artists**: Other vocalists and performers who are versatile and interested in creating dynamic music projects together.

3. **DJs and Producers**: I’m particularly interested in those who specialize in soulful house and dance electronic music to bring fresh beats and innovative sounds to our work.

I believe collaboration can create something truly magical, blending our energies and talents to explore new musical landscapes.

If you’re interested in collaborating, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You can connect with me on all my social media platforms. I’m always open to discussions, brainstorming, and seeing how we can bring something unique and powerful to life. Looking forward to hearing from you!
