We recently connected with Bemyfiasco and have shared our conversation below.
BeMyFiasco, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
I remember that I have my own talents and gifts and they wouldn’t have brought me in the space if I couldn’t contribute in a meaningful way.
I would also frame it in a way that maybe I could be the person to open those doors so there could be more people that look like me.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Grammy nominated singer-songwriter, Bianca “BeMyFiasco” Rodriguez is a musical powerhouse. Whether snatching souls on stage or writing for your favs, BeMy is on a mission to create your favorite R&B, one song at time.
Joining the legendary Foreign Exchange Music group back in 2021, she released her debut album, “Where I Left You.” Her sophomore project, “Pretty Little Love” released in October 2024, climbing to #3 on the Apple R&B charts.
Outside of her solo work, BeMyFiasco contributed vocals to “Violets” , a 9th Wonder production from Robert Glasper and Miles Davis’ on his Everything is Beautiful album. That same year, she collaborated with Erykah Badu’s
band RC & the Gritz, writing and arranging
vocals on two songs (“Anxiety” and “Give Me Your Heart”) on their album The Feel. Her contributions to the band’s project earned her a spot on their U.S. tour.
Her long time partnership with label head, Phonte Coleman, has also allowed her the opportunity to collaborate with notable acts
such as Lalah Hathaway, Oddisee, Rory and many more.
BeMy’s buttery smooth vocals, razor sharp pen game and electrifying stage presence, has propelled her artistry into a new realm. Her lyrics are raw and vulnerable and her musical ear is unmatched. She hopes to use her gift to inspire others to do the things they love and to not be afraid to craft the life of their dreams.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Resilience, having a curious mind and asking for help.
A lot of the music game is trial and error. Most of us don’t really know what we’re doing but we trust in our gift and we know what feels good. Stay true to yourself, always be a student and reach out and collaborate. Relationships are key.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The Artist Way is a key read for every creative.
It reminds you to carve out time for yourself and your art. I still do the morning pages which is essentially brain dumping for three pages every morning. I also take myself on the weekly artist date.
