We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ben Umansky Shira Keshet. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ben Umansky below.
Ben Umansky, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
Creativity flows from the heart, with the mind serving as the bridge to bring it into reality. It’s about embracing what’s within us and making the most of what we have. Many people struggle with creative blocks, but I’ve learned from my personal experience that the key isn’t to fight it—it’s to lean into it. For instance, if you’re experiencing writer’s block, write about the block itself: what it feels like, how it’s affecting you, or what it might be trying to tell you. By listening to your heart and following your passions without fixating on results, creativity begins to flow naturally. The most inspired ideas often surface when you least expect them—when you’re simply enjoying the process and fully present in the moment.
For me, creativity is also deeply connected to love and human connection. It’s a language of the heart, a way to reach out and communicate. When I focus on creating meaningful connections, creativity becomes effortless. It’s not about the form my art takes—or even if it takes a tangible form at all—it’s about the message I want to share and the emotion I want to convey. Whether it’s through visual art, storytelling, or a heartfelt moment, creativity allows me to tell someone, “You are incredible.” It’s like having a conversation, but instead of words, I let the art speak from the soul.
That said, this is just my personal experience. I know creativity is deeply individual, and different people approach it in different ways. What works for me might not resonate with someone else—and that’s the beauty of creativity. It’s a personal journey, and finding your own way to connect with it is what makes it so unique and powerful.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
What do we do? What is BluPoetry?
Shira (my wife) and I are the co-owners of BluPoetry. We manage the business together, but each of us brings a unique focus to what we do:
I am an artist, and my passion lies in creating video art portraits as a form of connection. These pieces are deeply personal, inspired by my feelings, understanding, and perspective of the person I’m creating for. I love to surprise people with this work—they often have no idea I’ve been creating something for them, and when they see it, their reactions are pure magic. It’s a video collage—a mix of visuals, animations, and other elements that reflect what I feel is their essence. I don’t overthink it; I just let it flow onto the digital canvas. This form of art is my heart’s language, and it always guides me where I need to go.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in our journey have been:
1. Connection, Communication, and Community:
These three are at the core of everything we do. Genuine connection allows us to engage with others authentically and build trust. Communication ensures that everyone is on the same page, from the creative process to deliverables expectations. And community ties it all together—we’re part of a larger network where collaboration and support create endless possibilities.
Advice: Practice active listening, be transparent, and show up for your community. Relationships will open doors you never anticipated.
2. Professionalism:
Professionalism is about delivering what you promised with clarity, quality, and reliability. Especially in creative fields, where outcomes can be subjective, professionalism helps bridge the gap between artistic vision and client satisfaction.
Advice: Under-promise and over-deliver. Seek feedback to improve, stay curious, and master the tools that elevate your work.
3. Giving Unconditionally:
One of the most rewarding parts of our journey has been giving without expectations. Whether it’s sharing time, talent, or resources, this mindset has opened up opportunities, connections, and growth in unexpected ways.
Advice: Be generous, but set healthy boundaries. Trust that abundance comes in many forms—relationships, experiences, and personal growth.
By focusing on these qualities, we’ve built a business and a life that aligns with our values. For those just starting out, lead with authenticity, stay open to learning, and remember that generosity and collaboration will carry you far.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Over the past 12 months, the biggest area of growth in our business has been creating a clear and straightforward system for what we offer. This transformation has been incredibly beneficial—not only for us but especially for our clients and those who reach out for our services.
We developed specific products tailored to the different categories we work in, each featuring three-tiered packages—Basic, Standard, and Premium—to offer flexibility for various budgets and needs. When you visit our website, you’ll find that each product has its own dedicated page. These pages outline the three package options, the step-by-step process from start to finish, add-ons for customizing packages, express delivery options for faster turnaround, and examples of past work for that specific product.
This approach has allowed us to present a simple, all-inclusive, and user-friendly way to showcase our services. We’ve realized that this kind of clear communication is one of the greatest services we can provide to people who want to collaborate with us. It not only makes the process seamless for our clients but also brings us greater clarity and efficiency in how we work.
