We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Benita Livingston a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Benita, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from two place; first I saw it lived through my parents. They were both educators and had to overcome a lot to raise five children. We were always told that we could do and be anything we wanted if we put our minds to it. They set the example of how to live, trust God and have faith.
The second place is a place of faith. God is my source and strength and I know with God all things are possible.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hello, I’m Rev. Benita, the owner of Living Ceremonies a wedding officiant business based in Nashville but I also do destination wedding as well. I bring a unique blend of experience, professionalism, and heartfelt care to every ceremony I officiate.
As an ordained minister and professional wedding officiant with over 25 years of experience as a chaplain, I have had the privilege of supporting couples and individuals through some of life’s most meaningful moments. Since 2004, I’ve been honored to offer premarital sessions and officiate weddings, helping couples create ceremonies that truly reflect their love and commitment. Every ceremony I officiate is thoughtfully crafted with intention, blending elegance, fun, and heartfelt moments. I specialize in creating bespoke, luxury ceremonies that celebrate your unique love story and leave a lasting impression on you and your guests.
We offer two packages one with premarital session and one without. We also offer Dance Your Vows packages that combine your ceremony and first dance through Curtsy Ballroom.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Qualities that have been most impactful in my journey have been leading with empathy, being intentional and mindful in how I approach and work with people.
I consider empathy to be my superpower, being able to see from another persons perspective and then mindfully use that to serve others will take you far.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes, I am always open to meaningful collaboration with other wedding professionals who share my passion for creating unforgettable experiences for couples I especially enjoy partnering with wedding planners, photographers and venues that serve luxury and destination weddings.
