Meet Benito Antonio

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Benito Antonio. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Benito below.

Benito, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
It all started when I was just a child of just 11 years old, thanks to my mother who taught me the art of sewing. In this way I developed the ability to sew, make my own patterns and even illustrate. Little by little I developed my interest in the world of fashion and designs, in such a way that my mother stopped sewing and handed over control to me.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am dedicated to creating dreams, the dreams of clients who come to me looking for that exclusive piece that will make them look special. The most exciting thing about my job is holding a fabric and automatically my mind begins to fly creatively, creating a unique, elegant and comfortable piece in each of my designs.

Another thing that my career has given me the opportunity is to be able to provide help to girls, young people and adults through the Miss Cayena Dominicana contest, where we have held it since 2011. Here I have had the opportunity to support these girls to make their dreams come true. From this organization arises the Cayenas Solidarias foundation, where every year the queens attend orphanages to support children and adolescents fot the donation toys, school supplies, clothing and modeling training.

One of my goals is to expand internationally, creating clothing accessible to all types of audiences and continue contributing in this way to society.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Discipline, perseverance and focus.

Good advice is to prepare, believe in yourself and dare to knock on doors.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
I come from a home with a military father and living in a third world country, where the youngest son decided to study fashion design, definitely for many it would be something unacceptable. However, when I told my parents about my decision, his response marked me because he only told me: “Be what you want to be, but always try to be the best at what you do or be among them.”
