Meet Benjamin Tone

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Benjamin Tone. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Benjamin below.

Benjamin, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from a combination of faith, family, and experience. As the founder and creative director of Tone Production — a full-service video production company based in Lafayette, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Mobile, Alabama — I’ve faced many of the highs and lows that come with building a creative business from the ground up. Whether it’s navigating tight deadlines, adapting to last-minute changes on set, or managing a growing team across multiple cities, staying grounded in my purpose has been key.

My faith gives me clarity and strength, and my family reminds me what truly matters. Resilient leadership, especially in the fast-paced world of film and content creation, comes from learning through failure and choosing to grow from it. Every project, challenge, and client story has helped shape Tone Production into a trusted name in video storytelling across the Gulf South.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Tell us about what you do, your story, and what’s exciting about your work.

I’m Ben Tone, founder and creative director of Tone Production, a full-service video production company based in New Orleans, with additional offices in Lafayette, Baton Rouge, and Mobile, Alabama. We specialize in high-quality commercial video production, brand storytelling, and short-form content creation for businesses, organizations, and creative campaigns.

My background started in music and ministry, but I was always drawn to storytelling — the kind that moves people and makes ideas stick. Tone Production was born from that passion: helping brands and organizations communicate with clarity, creativity, and impact through video.

What sets us apart is our ability to combine cinematic visuals with strategic messaging. We don’t just shoot — we collaborate with our clients from concept to delivery, making sure each project aligns with their voice, goals, and audience. Whether it’s a brand launch, a product spotlight, internal communications, or social media content, we create videos that are polished, purposeful, and built to perform.

Right now, we’re continuing to expand our footprint across the Gulf South, scaling up our content creation services for digital platforms and offering flexible production options for both small businesses and larger corporate clients. With permanent teams in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Mobile, we’re positioned to support growing creative demands across the region with consistency and excellence.

At the core of Tone Production is a simple mission: tell great stories, produce with integrity, and help our clients connect in ways that matter.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three things have made the biggest impact on my journey: adaptability, storytelling, and leadership.

Adaptability has been crucial in the video production world — especially when running a business across multiple markets like New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Mobile. Gear changes, clients shift direction, timelines get tight. Being able to pivot quickly without compromising quality is a skill that’s saved me over and over again. My advice: start by learning how to problem-solve under pressure. The faster you get comfortable with uncertainty, the more valuable you become.

The second is storytelling. Whether we’re producing a brand video, a commercial, or a social media campaign, great storytelling is what sets strong content apart. It’s not just about beautiful visuals — it’s about knowing how to structure a message that connects with people. If you’re just starting out, study films, analyze ads, and pay attention to how they make you feel. Practice turning real moments into compelling narratives.

Finally, leadership has been one of the most important — and most humbling — parts of my journey. Building a creative team at Tone Production taught me that leadership isn’t about control; it’s about clarity, trust, and vision. If you’re early in your career, learn how to communicate well, stay teachable, and invest in people. Your ability to lead will eventually shape your brand as much as your technical skill does.

No matter where you’re starting, focus on learning fast, serving well, and staying true to your values. The creative industry is always changing — but those core qualities will take you further than you think.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

Our ideal client is someone who values story-driven content, understands the power of high-quality video, and is ready to collaborate with a creative partner — not just hire a vendor. At Tone Production, we work best with brands, agencies, and organizations that are serious about telling their story with clarity and purpose, whether it’s for a product launch, brand identity campaign, internal communications, or social media content.

The best projects come from clients who trust the creative process but also bring their own vision and insight to the table. We love working with businesses that are growth-minded, open to strategy, and looking for long-term creative partnership — not just one-off deliverables. It doesn’t matter if they’re a startup or a well-established company — what matters is a shared respect for quality, communication, and storytelling.

We have offices in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Mobile, Alabama, and we love working with clients who are excited about building strong messaging through compelling video content — clients who see media not just as a checkbox, but as a vital part of their brand identity.
