Meet Benjamin Villers

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Benjamin Villers a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Benjamin, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I found purpose by continuously focusing on my passions. I never worried about what other people think. None of those opinions mattered. Peoples thoughts weren’t going to get me where I needed to be. For years growing up I never knew what I wanted to do or be, so I kept just doing what made sense to me. I tried to get into other lines of work and jobs, but I was also rejected. Companies and organizations kept denying anything I was trying to do. Eventually I got my foot in the door to companies that were relevant to fitness & nutrition. This opened the door to me building connections and eventually becoming a Personal Trainer & DJ. When I was younger I did not know I would actually be or want to be a personal trainer. And in regards to DJ’ing this was something that was completely unexpected. I always loved music, but after hustling day in and day out for years and years opportunities just began to line up. When I was denied opportunities that I thought I had to do because of what other people thought about me that always lead me down a dead end. When I just followed my heart, interests and skill sets it always lead me to better places.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a personal trainer and DJ I’ve been personal training client since 2014. I started training a lot of clients in 2017 and went full-time in 2019. I started DJ and MC in 2017 as well. What’s cool about the DJ and I’m seeing as that was an opportunity that came to me from working hard. someone recognized me and started teaching me everything. I need to know about DJing it from there by DJ career took of. What’s really exciting about my personal training business is that I have a lot of clients such a young age. I’m really good at getting new clients and I have a bunch of methods for getting new clients and retaining clients and getting client great results so to be able to do this at such a young age is very exciting, I’ve worked hard to get this to work pay off is really great. Used to have a lot of money to be able to be financially independent is very exciting.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I was an athlete my entire life so to be able to use all of those experiences and be able to help other people has been really helpful.

I’m also a very hard worker a lot of people say that, but not a lot of people have the actual résumé to back that up for me these days my reputation is being a hard worker. Many people know me as one of the hardest workers. They know the reason why my reputation is like this is because I’m so consistent. I’m so reliable. I always show up. I never quit. I never make excuses. I work long hours. I do whatever it takes to succeed and people recognize that and people pay into that. The reason why I’m able to make the money that I do is because people know that I’m a hard worker.

Committed to excellence that means I understand that I know not perfect and I’m always striving to be better. I’m always trying to be better than I was in the past and by having this mindset and narrows down and limits the amount of mistakes that I make and only having positive results.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

The number one greatest obstacle I’ve had to overcome is just constant rejection so I don’t have to face that as much these days earlier in my career before I became full-time what led me to being a full-time trainer was constant rejection and having to overcome that rejection and not being down on myself and having to persevere and have confidence in myself, this was probably one of the hardest things I’ve had to overcome. As young would say one of my greatest obstacles presently is warranting the respect of my clients who are older than me because I’m 32 sometimes people overlook what I have to say, but way less now than it was when it was younger.
