Meet Benjamin Waid

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Benjamin Waid a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Benjamin, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic stems from a combination of influences in my life. First and foremost, I have to credit my parents for instilling in me the values of discipline and perseverance. They always emphasized the importance of hard work and taking responsibility for my actions, which shaped my mindset from a young age.

Growing up as a military kid also played a significant role in developing my work ethic. The constant moves and exposure to different environments taught me the importance of adaptability and resilience. I learned to quickly adjust to new situations, make new friends, and overcome challenges. This experience fostered a strong sense of determination and a willingness to put in the necessary effort to achieve my goals.

Another factor that has contributed to my work ethic is my entrepreneurial journey. Starting my own recording studio and publishing business required immense dedication and a relentless work ethic. Being responsible for every aspect of the business, from client acquisition to project management, has shaped me into a highly motivated individual who is willing to go above and beyond to deliver exceptional results.

Furthermore, I have always had a competitive spirit. Whether it’s in sports or professional endeavors, I thrive on challenges and strive to excel. This innate drive pushes me to work diligently and consistently improve myself and my work.

Lastly, my love for personal growth and positive gains fuels my work ethic. I am passionate about continually progressing and achieving new heights in my chosen field. This mindset keeps me motivated and ensures that I always give my best effort in everything I do.

In summary, my work ethic is a culmination of the values instilled by my parents, the adaptability and resilience developed as a military kid, the drive acquired through my entrepreneurial endeavors, my competitive spirit, and my passion for personal growth. These factors have shaped my mindset and instilled in me a strong work ethic that drives me to work hard and strive for success.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I believe that my dedication, my ability to never quit, and my consistent focus on finding joy in small wins were the three most impactful aspects of my journey.

For those who are early in their journey, I would suggest the following:

1. Dedication: Set clear goals and commit yourself to achieving them. Break down your larger goals into smaller, manageable tasks, and stay committed to completing them. It’s important to maintain a consistent effort and hold yourself accountable.

2. Resilience: Understand that failure is a natural part of the process. Embrace failures as learning opportunities rather than setbacks. When faced with challenges or obstacles, remind yourself that they are temporary and can be overcome with perseverance. Cultivate a resilient mindset that allows you to bounce back stronger.

3. Finding joy in small wins: Celebrate your achievements along the way, no matter how small they may seem. Recognize and appreciate your progress, as it will fuel your motivation and boost your confidence. By acknowledging and finding joy in the small wins, you’ll stay motivated and maintain a positive outlook throughout your journey.

Remember, life is a series of ups and downs, but with dedication, resilience, and a focus on celebrating progress, you can overcome obstacles and achieve your goals.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
In the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth and improvement has been in focusing on various aspects of my life. There are four areas that stand out:

1. Finances: I have dedicated time and effort to better understanding my finances. This includes tracking my income, expenses, investments, and profits. By gaining a clearer picture of my financial situation, I have been able to make more informed decisions and set realistic goals for myself.

2. Health: I have recognized the importance of prioritizing my health and well-being. I have taken proactive steps to improve my physical fitness, engage in regular exercise, and make healthier lifestyle choices. I now understand that good health is invaluable and contributes to overall happiness and success.

3. Family: I have realized the significance of cherishing and nurturing the relationships with my family and my spouse. I have made a conscious effort to spend quality time with my loved ones, prioritize their needs, and strengthen the bonds we share. This focus on family has brought immense joy and fulfillment to my life.

4. Mental health: I have placed a greater emphasis on caring for my mental well-being. I have actively sought ways to manage stress, practice self-care, and cultivate a positive mindset. Taking time for myself and addressing my mental health has had a profound impact on my overall happiness and ability to navigate challenges effectively.

By focusing on these areas, I have experienced tremendous personal growth.
