Meet Bennie Brimage

We recently connected with Bennie Brimage and have shared our conversation below.

Bennie, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
Creativity is a process that can be nurtured and cultivated. I try to stay passionate, not be afraid to take creative risks and explore unconventional ideas that align with my brand. One thing that I learned is when at times you don’t have a clear vision, support someone else’s until you do. Other activities include, taking long drives while listening to music, working out, watching a movie, or reading a news article on today’s news and technology.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a serial entrepreneur and no stranger to taking risks and pursuing creative ideas. My journey has been driven by a passion for innovation and a determination to create value in various industries. Throughout my life, I consistently sought out opportunities to challenge the status quo and explore uncharted territories. This approach has led me to launch multiple projects each with its own set of unique challenges, lessons learned, and rewards. But what truly fuels my passion is the unwavering commitment to making a meaningful difference for my family, both in the present and for generations to come. I believe that entrepreneurship offers a unique platform to not only build a legacy but also create opportunities that can transform lives. I’m a Christian that serves at my church weekly, a huge sports fan, and the best uncle anyone can have.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I can pinpoint the qualities and skills that have had an impact on my path to success. Resilience: Resilience has been a driving force throughout my entrepreneurial journey. Building and running startups often come with a fair share of challenges, setbacks, and unforeseen obstacles. It’s the ability to bounce back from these challenges and continue forging ahead that has been instrumental. I hear the saying that it’s lonely at the top but it’s even lonelier at the bottom. That’s where faith comes into play, when times I didn’t want to, I made sure I took one additional step closer to the goal. Just show up to an event, send that last email or submit a blog.

Creativity and Innovation: In the ever-evolving world of entrepreneurship, the ability to think creatively and innovate is an invaluable asset. I’ve always believed in the power of new ideas and creative solutions to drive change and capture opportunities.

Adaptability and Learning: Being adaptable and continually seeking to learn and grow has been essential. The ability to pivot (which at times may be required) and adjust has allowed me to stay relevant and responsive.
I would advise aspiring entrepreneurs to set clear goals and a well-defined vision for their ventures. A strong sense of purpose can help you navigate the uncertain waters of entrepreneurship. Also have an advisory board that hash out your ideas. It may sound great for you, but you must be open to listen to other aspects. Seeking wise counsel is vital.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m always open to collaboration and partnerships, as I believe that success often emerges from the synergy of shared ideas, resources, and expertise. Both of my startups, Reference Hive and Rivalry Edition, are driven by a passion to make a difference in the lives of people and communities.

For Reference Hive: I’m interested in connecting with individuals and organizations that share a commitment to addressing unemployment challenges, particularly among reentry citizens and underserved populations. This includes nonprofits, government agencies, educational institutions, and companies with a strong social impact focus. Angel investors who have a vested interest in workforce development and empowerment are also ideal collaborators.

For Rivalry Edition: In the world of sports, the potential for collaboration is boundless. I’m looking to partner with sports enthusiasts, content creators, TV networks, sports historians, athletes, and organizations that share a passion for celebrating the rich history and rivalries in sports. Whether you’re a media professional, a social media influencer, or a sports aficionado with a unique perspective to offer, we welcome collaboration to further enhance the Rivalry Edition platform. In addition, angel investors who recognize the value of uniting sports communities and amplifying the excitement of rivalries are encouraged to get in touch.
