We were lucky to catch up with Bere Alvarez-caballero recently and have shared our conversation below.
Bere, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Creating artwork is an important way for me to express my feelings. To keep my creativity alive, I find it helpful to do daily meditation and carry a small sketchbook with me at all times. This allows me to do small sketches without feeling pressured to be perfect or spend too much time on it. I also find inspiration on Pinterest by looking through various forms of art.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Resilience; the stubborn part of myself helps to just keep going and keep trying. Keep drawing and try all kinds and see which one suit you the most. The acceptance that not every artwork will turn out great.
Creativity; For me creativity is part of my personality where I can express my emotions into art. I look for all inspiration through all kind of artists and practice all kind of art media.
Patience; this is one of the most important qualities on this art journey, because without it I won’t be able to get any of my artwork done. It’ll take so much patience to change any mistakes or errors. Patience with the progress of the work itself.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
I would say the most overwhelming part of this path is the unknown. The unknown of if your artwork will even make it out there. Not knowing if it’ll be worth anything someday. The fear of failure plays a huge role in being in overwhelming state. My advice is that you keep trying. To find inspiration. And stay consistent on that. Keep up doing small sketch work daily. That you have the resilience and faith that no matter what others think, you just have to do it for yourself. For your own well-being.
