Meet Bernice Arceo Mcgill

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bernice Arceo Mcgill a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Bernice Arceo, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.

My generosity comes from God. He has blessed us so much that our cup over flows. We live by the motto “We are blessed to be a blessing” I also believe in the principals in the bible about GIVING. The Bible says, “Give and it shall come back to you good measure pressed down shaken together with the same measure you give, men will give unto you” Luke 6:38

Its better to give than receive.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

A Chamorrita from the island of Guam and the village of Chalan Pago, Bernice has a huge heart and passion to impact lives wherever she goes. Her super power LOVE! She is an encourager and an entrepreneur who wears many hats in the community. Her favorite role is being a Mom to Rhythm, Isaiah & Lyric; her children and a MEME to her 5 grandchildren.

Besides loving Jesus and helping people, Bernice loves to spend time with family, go on dates with her husband, swim and dance. When she was young she desired to be a back up dancer for Janet Jackson but God saw fit she would be a preachers wife instead. She grew up catholic but got saved in her marriage. Her husband Pastor Brian represents Jesus in her life. After knowing each other for only 3 months they got married and recently celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary this year!

Bernice has powerful testimony of God healing her marriage from adultery & abortion. The tremendous loss caused a lot of emotional pain and deep grief. Through this pain she found purpose and hope in her journey. She now uses her lived experiences to help others heal and recover. She uses her social media platforms to share her light with others. The road to healing and recovery has led her to endless opportunities of helping grievers take correct action steps in their personal healing.

Some of the biggest compliments she ever got from a client are “Bernice you helped get my faith back” and “Bernice if you didn’t get back to me I was going to end my life” This is what drives her daily.

Bernice and her husband own several non profit organizations on the island of Guam. She is a grief recovery specialist and a self published children’s book author as well.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three qualities that I posses that helped me are;
1. Authenticity – I know God created me in his image and I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I’m humbled enough to know I can be replaced but Confident enough to know there is no other person like me. I always show up as my true authentic self. One day at a business meeting for a 19 million dollar contract I asked the men to pray and we did.
2. Resilience – God has blessed me with the ability to recover quickly from an unforeseen situation or difficulty. I know we are not exempt from trials and tribulations as Christians but I always pray for wisdom from God, He knows all things and He is our ever-present help in times of trouble. Also, in business we truly learn from failing and so I’ve learned to fail forward.
3. Ability to trust God in what He’s called me to do. I take him at his word in every area of my life especially business. There are so many biblical principals when it comes to money and it’s purpose. I’m unwavering in the vision He gives me and everyday I take one step forward towards that.

The advice I would give for those wanting to go into business or fulfill what God is calling them to do is to trust his leading. The bible says “Faith comes by hearing the word of God” so I would encourage them to be filled with his word. You can simply read the bible, watch videos or listen to podcast to learn all that you need to. I love the quote, what we are filled with we will be led by. If we fill ourselves with God’s word we will be led by truth and not the lies of the enemy. God created everyone with purpose and destiny its just a matter of seeking him and obey his leading. He will align us to what He’s called us to do.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

Definitely the bible. There are so many wealth strategies and money principals in the bible. God is the one that gives us the revelations and truth so we just got to seek him. I believe business is also a ministry, to minister means to serve and in business we do just that.

Everything that I have been called to do I am able to do by just asking God for wisdom. Wisdom from God will take you farther than any degree or certification will. I was praying one day and God led me to go talk to this real estate company. When I walked into their office they said there we just talking about how they needed an HVAC contractor. ( My hubby and I owned and operated an air conditioning company before going into ministry full time with our non profit organizations) We had a contract with them for several years before we shut it our business down.

As Grief Recovery Specialist, I met a client from a business meeting who was in deep grief. I was having a bad reaction to some antibiotics so I didn’t feel good. I went home to get some rest, as I was getting into my bed the holy spirit directed me to text her right away. My phone was dead but as soon as I charged it and it was able to come on, I sent a text. She became my client that week and during our first meeting she confessed she had a gun pointed in her mouth & she asked the Lord if He doesn’t want her to die to please send a sign. Immediately my text came it and it was her sign. Praised the Lord she is still alive today.

Unfortunately Guam leads the nation in suicide rates per capita. I’m passionate about spreading hope with my non profit organizations in my community. I read the bible every day for wisdom.
