We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Berry Boo . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Berry below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Berry with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My strong work ethic was shaped by my mother, a single parent who tirelessly juggled 2 to 3 jobs to support my sibling and me. Her dedication to providing for us while nurturing my talents and allowing me to explore my creativity through various art forms left a profound impact on me. I was involved in numerous activities like dance companies, singing groups, piano lessons, and marching band – the list goes on. This kept me constantly engaged, and now, if I find myself idle for more than a day, I can’t help but feel unproductive. I have to remind myself that it’s okay to take a break.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My career took off as a background vocalist, allowing me to tour the world alongside some of today’s A-list artists. However, nothing compares to the exhilaration of performing on stage with my very own music catalog – it’s an absolute joy. You can find and purchase my music on all major digital platforms. What’s particularly exciting is that my likeness is now available for various branding and promotional collaborations. Additionally, I’m proud to say that I’m the founder and CEO of my own apparel and home decor line, which I’ve named ‘B-City Collection.’
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Consistency, Perseverance & Passion are key elements!
I firmly believe that embracing our uniqueness is a remarkable quality because “No one can be you better than you.” This is a mantra I live by.
Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals who share your interests and genuinely appreciate your worth is essential. Finding your tribe, your community, can make a world of difference.
Lastly, I encourage everyone to ‘do it scared.’ Take that leap, even if you don’t feel 100% ready. There’s never a perfect time, and you’ll learn as you go. Remember, everything is challenging at the beginning, but the satisfaction of building something from the ground up is incredibly rewarding.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
As someone who grapples with extreme anxiety, I’ve undergone a transformative journey through therapy and connecting with my community. I’ve discovered the importance of taking a deep breath and pausing when I feel overwhelmed. One of the most significant lessons I’ve learned is that depression often stems from dwelling on the past, whereas anxiety thrives on anticipating the future. Overthinking about what might happen before it actually does is like putting ourselves through it twice. That’s why I emphasize the significance of staying present, taking a moment to breathe, and simply surrendering to the here and now.
