We were lucky to catch up with Beth Theodore, L.Ac. recently and have shared our conversation below.
Beth, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
From the time I was a child I always felt drawn to natural and holistic medicine. Whether it was doing my own research in nutrition and herbal books to find solutions to health concerns or spending hours on the phone with friends to help them overcome emotional challenges. After graduating high school, I began searching various healing modalities that combined the mind, body and spirit in order to treat the individual. Once I discovered Acupuncture and Eastern Medicine I knew it was the right path for me. The level of depth it contained and the ability to treat a wide variety of conditions from a truly holistic point of view was so appealing for me. I attended undergrad college initially then transferred to the TCM masters program in Los Angeles.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a Licensed Acupuncturist, currently practicing in Manhattan Beach, CA. I also host workshops and retreats globally. Throughout my career, I’ve always had a strong interest in helping people heal along with gaining strength and focus to create the life that most inspires their heart. I’ve found that often symptoms arise to help redirect them towards a direction that is more in alignment with their path and purpose. I enjoy working with people who want to go deep and truly heal on all levels, rather than just looking to alleviate symptoms. This often includes any or a combination of very specific and individualized acupuncture, herbs, nutritional adjustment, meditation, NET, specific exercises, essential oils or sometimes just providing a space for them to feel heard without judgment.
I recently joined an integrative center with various other practitioners and yoga instructors to provide a holistic experience. Here I offer regular workshops in addition to my treatments. I also work alongside other healing professionals and wellness centers in providing retreats worldwide.
I’m a Licensed Acupuncturist and Natural Healthcare practitioner, located in Manhattan Beach, CA. I also host workshops and retreats locally and globally. I treat a variety of conditions but most often work with patients experiencing menstrual imbalances, fertility challenges, menopausal symptoms, anxiety, stress, trauma and chronic pain. My focus is on healing the mind and body on a deeper level, rather than just alleviating symptoms. Each treatment is unique and focused solely on the patient so I never overlap sessions. It’s always been important to me to create a space where each person feels heard and understood without judgement or feeling rushed. When not working, I love spending time in nature, traveling, doing yoga or simply enjoying time with my husband, friends and my two sweet cats.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
One of the most important qualities to commit to your journey is a deep sense of passion or love for what you’re doing. Unless this is there, it’s hard to continue on especially when things become difficult or challenging. You have to really want this.
The second would be perseverance. Life is cyclical so when things don’t feel like they’re falling into place, it’s important to continue on your path. Even if this means making some alterations.
With that said, the third quality would be flexibility. You may be on the right journey for you but it may change course over time. This could lead to even more fulfillment than you originally even imagined but the transition phase may be be uncomfortable or bring up feelings of uncertainty. This is when flexibility allows you to find grounding during changes
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
Early on in my career I met my friends Mark and Marinel. Business owners themselves, they sat down with me to draw up a business plan that detailed what I was hoping the achieve, the marketing it would take to get there and the financial investment and income. This helped to create a base for my business along with specific steps to achieve my goals and ultimate dream.
